I would love to delete mine but it is the only way I can find out what my son at Uni is doing - I'm not his 'friend' but I am his girfriend's so I see all the gossip.:)

Yup, When you remove your account it just de-activates it.. If you login using your email and password at anytime it will recover your account.

I dont believe it actually get's removed permanently

Not on Facebook never been on it and no intention of joining. :D

Nor did I, got dragged on it by family, don't think I was on it even for a year - pi55ed bored with it in the end. Found a few old friends on there but I think the only proper friend I have made within the last few years has been a member on Edugeek so I could not really see the point of it.

I do wonder though if my actions have anything to do with the large amounts of alcohol I have consumed today.

Lucky you. I would like to consume alcohol [especially in large amounts] but I am feeling out of sorts with, among other things, an 'unproductive cough'

Yuk.

Done it !! Deleted my Facebook account - have to say it felt rather good. I highly recommend it.

Yup. I did the same thing about 8 months ago now. Since then I've spent less time online, become a lot less nosey and have also discovered who my real friends are - the ones who phone me, email me, come round to see me.

One of the reasons why I did it !!

I'm pretty sure you can delete it now.

I ended up with loads of people that I 'used' to know but am not in touch with, I relised pretty quickly why we're not in touch, I just removed them in the end and now only have friends on there it's fine now. Just remember the general rules of the internet, don't put anything on there that you don't want peope to see.

I may delete my account sometime soon. I don't actually use it anyway. I only logged in on the weekend because the girlfriend wanted me to be her neighbour in that cooking game.

Parents on Facebook is always a bad idea!

Hence why all my family is blocked, and I always deny having it, because my parents are the "omg the people online are going to rape you" type.

I mainly use mine for people from high school or friends don't commonly see and a couple of people I talk to regularly see online and I have all these people listed/grouped appropriately so friends from school can't see certain things and people from online can't see certain things (eg: photos from school).

Also I /may/ have a slight addiction to a certain game.

You're the farmer type, I can tell.

I think it's great as long as you have interesting content. I use mine to see where people that I met travelling are, reading about their experiences gives me ideas about where I might want to go next.

Yeah, Ive got plenty of interesting people on mine, I like seeing what they're doing and without Facebook we probably wouldnt be in touch.

There are a load of old school friends which I added when I first signed up, who are incredibly annoying and boring, need to delete them but a bit worried some will notice and ask why (even though we never talk)

Oddly enough, although my eldest son won't allow me on his facebook, the 19 year old does - and he has some seriously dodgy stuff on there - some years ago I found pictures of a much younger son and his mates throwing themselves on and off my new sofas!

He got into big trouble for that but he STILL didn't take me off as a friend!!

I would have done!:)
