superfletch Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Indeed - Chimps was maybe not the nicest choice of word though.
mrforgetful Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I use my Facebook to communicate with friends arranging things with them, finding old schoolmates, keeping in touch with relatives in Australia and sharing photos with family. I don't join lots of groups, add applications or do random quizes.
sidewinder Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Im not deleting mine but I am close to putting almost everyone on ignore, well all the women at least, if they do any more of the moronic 'put this in your status' things The bra colour thing, ok, as a one off. Now its 'put this in your status if you care about ' or them posting their 'fine'. FCUK OFF!
RabbieBurns Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 the thinkg that makes me laugh is the people who join a group and invite all their friends, as they think its going to unlock a secret part of facebook.. Join this group to get the Disklike Button Join this group to see who is viewing your profile

Join this group to get the Disklike Button Join this group to see who is viewing your profile lol yeah and the classic 'we will not pay to use facebook!!!!' Um, who is saying you would ever have to? Even if you look in the group info theres no information about where this has been proposed - because it hasnt. Yet morons still join
RabbieBurns Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I bet Scotland can get 1million fans before England I bet Glasgow can get 100000 fans before Edinburgh I bet I can get 1million people to join who hate Rangers blah blah blah its becoming the new bebo.. full of crap..
Batman Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 My sister in law noticed one that made me laugh... it was a group something along the lines of "I bet I can find a million from before manages it." The school in question happened to be ours, and I did the maths and worked out that even at double the current rate of admissions it would still take 2,000 years for a million people to attend here.
mattx Posted January 14, 2010 Author Posted January 14, 2010 its becoming the new bebo.. full of crap.. Just like the entire internet then..... [ apart from Edugeek of couse !! ]
Fonz_Valo Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Im not deleting mine but I am close to putting almost everyone on ignore, well all the women at least, if they do any more of the moronic 'put this in your status' things The bra colour thing, ok, as a one off. Now its 'put this in your status if you care about ' or them posting their 'fine'. FCUK OFF! That is exactly the reason i don't use mine anymore, i'm beginning to believe people have missed the initial purpose of Facebook these days and its just becoming a general annoyance to me.

RabbieBurns Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 I had a facebook for a year and a half before i came over here and i can honestly say I never once signed into it since I was signed up for it (my wee sis signed me up) But since being over here.. I use it pretty much every day. I only have family and real friends on it, and they can all see my photos I put up. Saves pe printing out tangible photos to post home at an expense. My 98 yr old grandparents are also able to see my photos whenever my family go to visit and show them my facebook photos. It also lets me stay 'in the loop' as to whats going on back home, with regards to music, clubs, etc, etc.. I also enjoy reading a whole Feed full of " Its sooo cold" or "I hate the snow" etc and then adding my "33C tonight and AC is broken" I agree its not for everyone, but if youve got a closeknit freinds and family group, that dont get to see each other that often, it is a really great platform, that spans all agegroups and computerliteracy abilaties.
6Foot2 Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 For those who haven't yet: Link: Delete Your Account Deleting your account from a social networking site can be as hard as canceling a gym membership or convincing a telemarketer that you're not interested in their product. Social networking sites and other online services don't want you to delete your account. There's value for them in being able to quote huge and growing user numbers, regardless of whether those users are happy to be there (though of course they hope that they are). If you're trying to cancel your Facebook, Digg, or LinkedIn account and you're having a tough time figuring out just how to do it, head on over to Delete Your Account. Delete Your Account is an online resource that helps you delete accounts from an ever-growing number of online services. It currently lists Amazon, AIM, Digg, eBay, Facebook, Flickr, FriendFeed, Google, Hotmail, iTunes, Last.fm, LinkedIn, Meebo, Monster, MySpace, PayPal, reddit, The PirateBay, Twitter, Wikipedia, WordPress, Yahoo, and YouTube, with others on the way. When possible Delete Your Account gives you a quick link to the page that allows you to delete your account, and instructions on how to verify that it is gone. If there are any details that you need to know like whether a site actually holds onto deleted data, that's listed as well. Happy account deleting! 1

6Foot2 Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 (edited) Link: Using Facebook or Twitter 'could raise your insurance premiums by 10pc' - Telegraph Nothing new in the advice here - It just confirms why the unwary should not use these sites or these sites should only be used when you are fully aware of the consequences of placing certain data online.
