Alis_Klar Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 There isn't a windows 7 client yet.... there is supposedly a new version coming out soon that supports windows 7 but until then you're best off removing it. Even the vista client doesn't work. LOL!! You really would think that the Vista verstion would work on Windows 7
ranj Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 Can I ask if any other school has had problems with the latest release of PCE 3.0.0.9 We have IE7 installed across the network and I was under the impression that the latest version was meant to have resolved these problems. A few people have said that since version 9 it seems to be working fine. I am thinking maybe the problem is to do with the version of IE7 we are using. We are currently using IE7 Ver 7.0.5730.13. Can I ask schools who have version 3.0.0.9 of PCE to clarify whether the IE version you are using is the same as ours or different? We are getting the same problems as we got with 3.0.0.7 when if you go to a site you just get the circle spinning and also at times when IE will just close down. Can anyone help?

Hi We are using PCE 3.0.0.9 with IE 8 and everything now works fine. Now just waiting for Windows 7 Version What I would really like is a 64bit windows 7 version but I know thats a way off.

Our contact at the LA has just told us that another update is imminent. Is anyone else suffering a slow browser experience with this version of the client and IE8 installed?

Yes, we've put ie8 on a few machines to test it and they are still having problems. We've also been told that a new update 3.1.0.2 (i think?) should be released this week.....

tech_guy Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Our LA have just updated our PCE box. We now have v3.1.0.2. Going to test a few suites this afternoon to see if the slowness issue in IE8 has gone.

I've also had this issue reported from alot of our staff members. I've recently started rolling out the new update so I hope it solves some of the problems.

I have phoned them a number of times now and insist that we are the ONLY site that is still having problems since "The Fix" in V. 3.0.0.9, but we are clearly not. Have other schools reported the issues they are having to Forensic Software? Our machines have been constanly crashing and locking when trying to use the internet, it also started crashing in other programs like Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) I totally unistalled the software from one suite of computers and since doing so I have not had a single issue! Maybe I need to do it to the rest of them computers in school! Does anybody know of an alternative piece of software that will do the same as Policy Central or Similar, THAT WILL WORK?? bmdixon Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 We were updated to 3.1.0.2 yesterday, and are still having problems. I'm off site atm but apparently there is a support call with forensic open at the moment, and they should be looking at it today. It seems like most sites were fixed with the 3.0.0.9 update but it is definitely still an issue for some. I know of at least 1 other school that is having problems and i'm sure that there are more. I think we've all given up hope of getting it to work and many schools probably haven't reported the issue to forensic. We've not had issues with any other software, just ie (both ie7 and ie8). Everything has been fine (touch wood!)
jamin100 Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 pfft, just updating our PCE to 3.1.0.2 really hopes this fixes some of the issues staff are having with IE. I've rolled out firefox now to most of them. Think i will make it the default browser in the summer images. This year has been a nightmare!
sonic1485 Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 We had a memo come through today saying that there are issues with sophos seeing it as suspicious. We haven't had the update here yet so not sure how it will act when it comes to the site.

jamin100 Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Well i cant even get the ruddy thing to update! have made all the changes in the ebriefing and the server has been sitting there for about 2 hours! apparently its meant to update within 20-25 minutes of a restart!
