CHR1S Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Provisionally yes it should be after Christmas, but then I'd rather Link2ICT test thoroughly in-house and with a select number of affected schools to ensure it's reliable. Hmm and all the in-house testing they did last time got us a very stable and reliable version, didnt it?
Michael Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 I can't really comment on how much testing was done first time around, however I would say a lot of lessons have been learnt. Hopefully this update should be more reliable and stable *touchwood
swordfish215 Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 I've just received this from Forensic, so the fix will be here shortly "The testing has finished and the fix is now being implemented into the code. I have been advised by QA that I should have the auto updates by the end of this week." 1
bmdixon Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Forensic has released it, Link2ICT are testing it at a few schools and looking to release fully to all schools Monday/Tuesday next week....
Fonz_Valo Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I've Just downloaded the update and i'm now crossing my fingers that this fixes a lot of the issues we have been experiencing
jamin100 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Forensic has released it, Link2ICT are testing it at a few schools and looking to release fully to all schools Monday/Tuesday next week.... So we should get this today ???
DevilsAdvocate Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 jamin100, did you have to run 'bhamupdatefix.zip' to get it to update to the current version? Do you know if we need to run this again to get 3.0.0.9 or will it have sorted the issue with the Birmingham proxies for good?

Not sure if we'll have to do it with this version though. I'm going to phone Link2ICT now and see where the patch is! I'm fed up of waiting! EDIT: Just spoke to link2ICT . . the update has aparently been released today and pce servers should of automatically updated themselves. Mine hasnt Edited January 12, 2010 by jamin100
CHR1S Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 How does it update and where do you see if it has done it? Ive just checked the PCE directory and there are no changed files.
DevilsAdvocate Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 CHR1S, If you go to the console, system options..it's under License and version details. Still running 3.0.0.8 here..the tool fails to run as well now.

Still running 3.0.0.8 here..the tool fails to run as well now. If you mean the PCE web bit then I dont have the options on my account, if you mean something else then im stumped lol
jamin100 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Log into PCE > System Options > License and Version Details My PCE Server Version reads 3.0.0.8 the new version is .9 Edit: Beat me too it. Chris, is PCE installed locally or do you have it hosted by Link2Ict?
CHR1S Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 L2ICT hosted, guessing its why I cant see the option
bashy Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I run Policy Central as a local system and the update came though today and has started being applied to all machine as they reboot. Will see if it works........
CHR1S Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 For all the people in brum with L2ICT managed PCE I just spoke to Dave Hogan who told me that all updates are going down to PCs today and all seems to be going well. You will be contacted if any issues arise.
bmdixon Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Just been told by David to contact Forensic themselves as they should be releasing an update tool that should get us up to date. Couldn't find a phone number for support on their site so filled in the support form and we'll see what happens. If anyone gets it, let me know! I'm fed up with crappy internet!
DevilsAdvocate Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I sent them an e-mail earlier today RE the tool, should have a reply soon hopefully. Rob
DevilsAdvocate Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Well, I left for home last night and one of the other guys here took a call from Forensics and we are now running 3.0.0.9, I doubt i'll get a good indication as to how things are for awhile (No students I bet today)
jamin100 Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 We should of got the update today . . but were closed so it'll have to wait until later in the week. Hope this solves the issues though!
bmdixon Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Rolled out the update to our IT Room machines yesterday. Hopefully we won't get any more reports of "the internet not working". Only time will tell....
CHR1S Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Had an call from a teacher saying IE had hung again this morning doing eportal, fingers crossed its a PC that hasnt been updated yet!
Michael Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 My initial testing of 3.0.0.9 final has been positive overall, but Firefox is still the quicker browser. Personally as a recommendation I would still run FF and IE side by side. I've designed my custom installation carefully so it's as transparent to the user as possible, but also provides some redundancy in case problems of this nature happen in future.
jason2234 Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 can't get this to update to 3.0.0.9 think my updateurl on the server is wrong. can anyone help? can't wait for forensic the kids are all using pdfs ict lessons!! current updateurl says http://pcelic.forensicsoftware.co.uk/patches/pcent/bham/ which doesn't go anywhere Jason
