Upgrade to Server 2008 RIS plus other Services
swordfish215 replied to swordfish215's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
RIS is just on a member server, and was installed prior to 2003 R2, and i would only be upgrading to 2008 not R2, do you think RIS would still work? -

Upgrade to Server 2008 RIS plus other Services
swordfish215 posted a topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Hopefully i will be upgrading our exsisting Servers during Easter from 2003 some R2 to Server 2008 R2. we currently run WDS in legacy mode so we can still use RIS depolyment, will this still function under Server 2008 or will it upgrade to Full WDS??? The other servers run services such as Print server, DNS, DHCP and PCE console is there anything that i should be aware of once these are upgraded. Thanks Andy -
I've just received this from Forensic, so the fix will be here shortly "The testing has finished and the fix is now being implemented into the code. I have been advised by QA that I should have the auto updates by the end of this week."

Hi Just looking for some advice on backups, 1 of our backups is of the Homedirs and Profiles, which is roughyly 240GB in size just using NTBackup to a Server and the end of a fibre run with a cat5 1gb connection. The backup is taking over a day to complete, this seems extremly slow , how does this compare to anyone elses backup. Can anyone recomend an alernate setup or possibly and better peice of software/soloution. Any advice would be much appreciated Andy

Not being funny, but its hardly a soloution to the problem, we have over 600 clients running PCE, with IE locked down with various group policy settings, surely installing Firefox will create more security issues, its just moving the problem around

Is there any news on this update, its causing me so many IE errors at the moment
