  3. Am really looking forward to upgrading when its ready. Like the author we currently have a similar BYOD solution using a HP managed wireless solution with no security on the SSID and presenting users with the redirection page but we also have the free version of Smoothwall running DHCP. I would be really keen to hear how others are managing the whole BTOD thing - I'd like to stay with Smoothwall if I can but if someone has a good alternative I'd like to hear about it. Cheers Andy
  4. I try and get my guys to R-click my computer, choose properties. Click Advanced Properties (on the left), a box appears then under user profiles click settings. Another box appears - select the profile you want to delete and click delete. This can take a few moments depending on the size. There are quicker methods but I generally find this method the cleanest. Andy
  5. We saw something similar where someone had already logged on with a Windows 7 account. Deleting their profile (server and client) and getting them to logon fixed it straight away.
  6. We currently use Clickview as it is really easy for staff and students to use and I think is quite good value. They also have TV recording and live video distribution options which are reasonably priced. Have a look at www.clickview.co.uk. Note you don’t need to subscribe to their content if you don’t want to (we don’t) which makes it cheaper. Let me know if you want to know more.
  7. Hi We are using PCE 3.0.0.9 with IE 8 and everything now works fine. Now just waiting for Windows 7 Version What I would really like is a 64bit windows 7 version but I know thats a way off.
  8. John do you know if this is the same version that was installed on our system a few weeks ago? If it is - Teak you may want to wait until your next break as it brought down our Bromcom system completely and took a day to roll back! We are quite a large School so they were not very popular while all our registers were manually being input by support staff. Andy
  9. Hi All Is anyone out there using Bromcom's Winfolder with Windows 7? At the moment if you run winfolder on windows 7 you cannot turn the projector mode off, this causes us major problems because it means that any windows 7 users cannot access any student data or use the behaviour system. I have logged this with Bromcom and is with their development team - I was hoping if others have the same problem or are planning to move to Windows 7 in the near future we might be able to lean on them a little together to encourage them to get a move on. Any thoughts or ideas welcome.
  10. We seem to be OK. The update doesnt seem to have updated the MSI so we have to install a previous version first then let PCE update itself. At the moment we are rolling it out bit by bit so we dont get everyone upset at the same time. - Anyone else found this? Cheers Andy
  11. Burgemaster we had the exact symptoms! It took me a while to be sure it was PCE but as soon as I removed the client program from the PCs staff started reporting the internet was much faster!
  12. I am looking to replace our Urdu 98 software which allows people to type in Urdu. I have found a product called InPage 3 - Al-Maktab which looks like it will do what we want. Does anyone else have any suggestions on products?
  13. I heard we have another 2 weeks to wait for the patch to be released as an update Am really not happy about the length of time we have had to wait. Is anyone using Securus at the moment? I did trial it along with PCE a few years ago and chose PCE in the end. At the time I remember Securus had a few hardware problems, have they fixed that issue yet?
  14. All true - but this guys a primary School not a seconday and I wouldn't sleep at night if I had external users connecting directly to any of my core servers. A web server or two would only need to query Sims every 10 mins or so to keep updated then your 500 parents connect to that (what ever that is).
  15. You might be right but I wouldnt expect the data to be Live Data - probably an overnight update or query run few times a day.
