Plus it was actually cheaper than advertised because of the extra VAT knocked off. Just finished setting it up - much better picture than my old LCD - just need to check my upscaling on my DVD player and order the HD cables for the Wii......

GrumbleDook Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Popped into Novatech yesterday to pick up some blank printable CD-Rs ... Came out with a Printable DVDs too ... oh and a 22" HD TV / Monitor, a 1Tb USB drive and a USB hub (the last two are for my wife ... so not too bad!)

mattx Posted December 28, 2008 Author Posted December 28, 2008 The DVD up scaling is rather good I have to say on it - also been playing DivX content and Xvid from a memory stick and the quality is much better - considering I paid £800 about 2 and a half years ago for a LCD and this one cost £350 I can see prices falling even more this year which may mean having one in each bedroom.......& office....& downstairs lav.

Mcshammer_dj Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 I got one of the Sony Bravia from Sainsburys and the picture quality is exellent, even appears to make VM look better. Just ordered a Sony DAVDZ260 to go with it I didn't even bother with Milk and bread

I wouldn't bother with the HD cables for the Wii as it's only SD (480p) anyway!

I gave into temptation, encouraged by the fact it was much cheaper there than anywhere on the web, and bought it........ And then had to get the car and drive back into town to pick it up! I have a nice Peavey amp and cab for sale if anyone's interested!

No, just a normal composite cable - I have just ordered a component cable from amazon for a few quid.......+ the quantum of solace game....Shocking. As for House Of The Dead 3 ? Good fun.....

Jay Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 The sony bravias are superb, I bought a 40 inch one a year ago for use with Sky HD and it upscales so well that you can't really tell the difference from the standard transmission on the movie channels, (football is much clearer though). I bought it from sound and vision for £600 inc delivery, its a low wattage model, one of the V series I think.

Most are offering about the same quality and it would depend on personal preference and what you want to do with it. If you have a PS3 or Sony Home theatre then the Baravia is the best option. I also noticed that Tesco's are doing a different bravia now for £350

So long as you have the money (at the time) and you can look at yourself in the mirror, or indeed the tv reflection on sunny days and not regreat it. It's a good buy. Don't look around for a telly once you've got one. Prices aways go down. Just except at the time you good a good deal and forget about it.
