Home Broadband OneStream, Vodafone or Plusnet?

Looking to renew my home broadband, I am currently with Plusnet 150/30mbit.  It's time for recontracting. I am trying to work out if I go OneStream, Vodafone or Plusnet.  Vodafone is the cheapest with a router and OneStream I need to provide my own.

 

Any recommendation, the Plusnet service has been excellent and cheaper than BT.

You lucky person. Also, with Plusnet, you can use your own router if you didn't know.

We have had Vodafone FTTP for over a year, was very good for the first 9 months. Recently however, we have had a few issues with the router dropping offline, and random outages. I would say overall it has been "ok" though. Looking to replace their router soon anyway, and go with a UniFi UDR straight into the ONT for better reliability and customisation.

Was on Virgin Media 250mbps, rubbish Wi-Fi signal in a flat with their router and had to buy an Access Point to improve it.  When 2 years contract coming to the end I tested a Three 5G phone signal and it was getting nearly 1GB! as mast is not too far away and good coverage when using their signal checker.  Ordered their Three 5G Home Broadband router, arrived next day with Sim inserted and online within 15 mins, no Fibre etc. just put it anywhere where you get a good signal and close to a power socket.  With a 10% online discount it costs me £16.99 for nearly 1Gbps speed in every room! saving £20 per month than virgins 250Mpbps £38 contract.  Definitely recommend Three if you get a good signal.

With PlusNet and have been for years because for a one off payment of a fiver you can have a static IP!

Our Vodafone FTTP has been pretty faultless over the last 12 months or so, with the exception of one outage that lasted almost 2 days.  Miles ahead in terms of reliability compared to our previous Virgin Fibre and Sky FTTP service.

With Virgin you can put it into modem mode mostly and use your own. With BT FTTP you jus connect your own router direct to the ONT, then get the username and password and setup PPPoE client on your own router. I would not touch Sky at all as they lockdown too much, fine if you want simple setup thou.

If the price is right and you've not had any problems I'd stick with PlusNet.

I can get my Plusnet under what I am paying now accept the last 5 months.  I wondering if I phone up I could get it any less.  I feel like I am letting the side down only going for a 150/30 mbit.

"none of the above" if youfibre is available.  They have been brilliant and utterly stupid-fast for the speed. £30PM for 900/900 here.  I had virgin beforehand and used modem only with a synology firewall.  TBH no issues, even when I wanted to cancel.  They were more expensive and youfibre were symmetrical.  One caveat on vodafone is for their full WIFI coverage deal, the inlaws live in a stone cottage that is quite long, the walls eat WIFI.  Vodafone sent a couple of boosters that worked really well and were pre setup - sure you can probably do it cheaper - but for the life of the contract it works out well if you need a number of boosters and dont want the hassle of purchasing matching sets and setting them up.

I had a shocking experience with You Fibre and wouldn't touch them but it just goes to show how personal experiences vary so much....

Youfibre just installed in my road and although i showed them my Three 5G Broadband speeds nearly hitiing a meg that still tried to push their 300Mbps product at a "discounted" price of  approx £40 even though im paying £17 for up to 1Gig!

+1 for plusnet and their £5 one off charge for a static.

I'm looking at ditching Virgin this summer, my contract is up in early August. For what I currently pay (£33 pm) I get 280Mb down and 22Mb up.
Oh, and they want to move that to £64pm if I don't renegotiate, and TBH, it hasn't been that reliable recently.
For the same price I can move to YouFibre and get 900Mb up and down as well as a static IP.
I've seen that one or two of you had bad experiences of them, but any feedback, good or bad, would be much appreciated as I'm about to pull the plug on Virgin and move to a new ISP very soon.

Are you covered by Openreach FTTP?

 

I with Plusnet and been happy my colleague is with Onestream and has been happy with them (Vodafone wholesale).

I've been using Brsk (now YouFibre) for about 15 months now without any issues.

I'm on CityFibre and while it hasn't been flawless, who is?

We've had very few issues, definitely no greater number of issues than I'd expect from any other ISP (and definitely less than I've had with some other suppliers in the past).

I've been a customer of PlusNet since I was on dial up in 2003, must be one of their oldest accounts these days, I moved the phone over to them a few years back when on FTTC and then migrated that elsewhere as FTTP was put in, had very little issues and the issues we did were not their fault but an Exchange fault.  In 23 years I cannot fault them, local customer support, cheap but at times not always but the customer service factor won for me.  My Dad has a basic package but serves his needs and I know he wont have any issues they are reliable so I dont have to worry about it going down for him.

I put a second connection in at home when BT FTTP came here a few months back and its been solid too, my brothers on them as are friends back where my Dad is and I cannot grumble.

I know at one point TalkTalk was cheaper but I knew I could rely on them for a solid service.  Last I looked PlusNet were cheapest for FTTP for a semi decent package.

Was a long term Plusnet customer and very happy/no issues but moved to YouFibre as it was the same price and got the symmetrical download/upload speeds. 

 

Also have a few business sites with YouFibre connections and no issues.
