Performance issues (UNDER INVESTIGATION)

05/03/2026 14:50

Our Cloud team is currently investigating and working to resolve the errors and periods of slowness experienced by users between 8:40 and 9:30 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week.

There is some work happening tonight to help address this, but while we continue to work on a permanent fix, there is a possibility that users may encounter Similar issues during tomorrow’s morning registration period. To help minimise disruption, we recommend preparing one of the following backup options:

Alternative Options for Morning Registration

1. Paper Registers - You can print blank registers by navigating to Reports > Attendance > Blank Registers

2. Teacher App -The Teacher App is available on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. Once installed, teachers can use the Take Register feature.

We will continue to keep you updated as soon as more information becomes available. Once the issue has been fully resolved, we will provide a full Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to restore normal service.

Apparently the issue may occur again tomorrow morning. They've suggested we use the teacher app or paper registers.

Wow... That's bad... Very bad... We better start looking for a new MIS. I guess their IT/Dev teams do not know what they are doing!

Cautiously optimistic as it not only seems to be up..... but actually drawing the page faster than usual.

Noticed that bar on the side has vanished.... perhaps it was that userguiding module from Feb again. Hopefully they just leave it off permanantly.

We have had a couple of wobbles this morning with users getting the same capacity error from the last 2 days but generally seems a lot happier and a refresh has solved any issues quickly.

Seems a lot snappier, but we need to know if this is because they've paid for increased capacity at peak times (and can afford to keep doing so) or because something's been fixed/optimized?

Pretty sure they will blame another organisation again... It's always been the case.

Lol, but how do you really feel? 😅

If you read the RCAs from previously (which Bromcom have got good at publishing and being transparent) they do take ownership of issues and a bit part of their comms at the moment is "technical debt". Not someone else's - Bromcom's technical debt. So no, it's not "always the case" that they blame others. They're aware of their weakness and are far less shy about it these days. It's good to see.

Don't get me wrong though, it's still their failure if it's another supplier to them. They own the relationship so "it's all Microsoft's fault" doesn't wash.

Have to agree. Most of the issues we've suffered over the years are performance related and their end - not something they've denied. That MS issue was a legit problem, also caused us a minor on one of our systems - we managed to resolve it pretty quickly.

Does seem to be performance related..  I had hoped the weekend would allow them to permanently fix it.

Wonder whats causing this, signing up a bunch more schools and squeezing the resources - especially due to increasing costs. Attempt to somehow rely on AI and cut back staffing numbers?

groan....

I wonder how much money, resource and effort is being collectively wasted over all of Bromcom's customers, rushing round applying backup methods, printing paper registers etc, shortfalls in safeguarding procedures.

Wouldn't surprise me if someone decided to play Bromcom at their own game and get litigious.

Same here but if you refresh your screen enough it works. Try explaining that to 100+ stressed staff!!!

Yea if you refresh, or force refresh CTRL+F5, it works eventually

The fact that some of our users are seeing no issues yet some are would maybe point to it being a load balancing issues or a subset of servers. I am currently locked out but someone around the corner is happily doing behaviour points and detentions, in fact has just printed a report too.

Certainly worth relaying that information to Bromcom via your school's support call to them (I hope everyone is indeed raising a support call for every outage)

Spoke to soon, they are now out as well.

And just as I was praising the release of the updated student app which now fixes the SSO issue and gets rid of the awful magic tokens.

Haha  was going to check in and ask whos willing to wager it goes down today. Behold it has gone down once again. Rather have my own on-prem MIS that way I can at least resolve the issue, no clue why people want a cloud MIS.

Had a SIMS server before. Yeah, there was issues but we knew how to and were able to get on the server fix the issues so wasn't too much of a problem. With these cloud MIS its just waiting for a band aid fix with no explanation what's going on or whats causing the issues.

Performance on Friday was great.

I didn't even prepare an Excel register for this morning.

Serves me right for having hope.

The amount of lost time due to Bromcom this academic year is absolutely monsterous.

Convenience, no remote access systems to manage but............on prem looks better with the current issues.
