Good morning, I think this question gets asked a fair bit, but as far as I can see it has not been asked for over a year.

Just wondering what your IT staffing levels are at your Trust.

So, we have 13 schools, 5 secondary schools, and 8 primary and central teams.

We have 10 IT staff in total, including the central IT manager.

How are your Trusts setup?

Thanks

How many devices, pupils and staff is that supporting? I'd say that is more the deciding factor.

EDIT:

To be more useful myself:

3 sites

360 staff

800 pupils

1500 devices

(roughly)

4 staff; IT Manager, Senior Tech, 2 technicians

Yep everyone needs to put in device number and pupil number as that's frankly what matters - running 10 schools and looking after 100 devices is not the same as running 2 schools and looking after 3000!

Copied and pasted from another post today:-

We are a LA Maintained school

We are a Google school.

We still run onsite MS AD.

All Staff use Windows PC's in their classrooms. Some staff have Windows Laptops.

We have 850 students and one Windows IT suite.

We currently have around 300 Chromebooks onsite (plus 80 offsite).

Most of the issues I have are with our Windows ecosystem.

I almost only see the Chromebooks when they have been damaged.

I am a team of one.

You sound like you have a busy life! Have you considered going fully Google with the staff as well? the Chromebooks plus's

It's actually quite easy to manage as, like I said, most of the issues I have are with the windows ecosystem. Since we only have about 150 Windows devices it means I have the time to do things.

I'd love to go fully Google, but Windows as an OS still has its place at the minute.

Staff are reluctant to change so the log onto Windows then Open up Chrome to do most of their work.

We manage the websites , phones, printers, copiers, wifi, servers, CCTV, school gates/locks etc, nothing is outsourced except for copier repairs. Also get asked to do stage lighting and record concerts.

Do you mean FOI or SAR requests? Surely FOI should be handled by an admin in the relevant department?

Wow, what's it like working at that sort of scale, if you don't mind me asking?

Does your team work on large enterprise scale stuff shared across the schools, and is there room for specialisation? Or is it more a case of managing all the usual small stuff, just multiplied by 60.

MAT secondary but we don't have centralised IT, so numbers just for my secondary

700 Students

80 Staff

440 Windows desktops, 80 Windows laptops, 570 Chromebooks, 20 iPads and a few Macbooks hanging about

Maintain both Google and MS tenancies but Google is the main one

We design and develop the school website as well as a few other in-house web apps as well as hosting them.

Look after wifi, switchgear, switches, servers, the usual.

Install and maintain the CCTV, of which there are about 80 now. A few Net2 doors, TVs, most classrooms still have projectors, all of the desk phones and mobiles. Fit all of my AV in-house, luckily we own a scissor lift. Also install all my own data points, power circuits, replace any faulty lights/emergency lights. Only contract the electrical stuff out when I'm too busy. Only other thing contracted is the printers and even then still have to look after PaperCut but mostly runs itself.

About to start supporting one of the MAT's primaries in April.

Team consists of myself (IT & Electrical Manager) and an apprentice IT tech.
