Evening All,

Does anyone know how easy it is go get from the Premiere Inn (Heathrow T2/3 Bath Road) to the Excel centre? I'm finally returning to BETT after three years. Travelling up on the Thursday, staying, parking and hopefully tubing it in on Friday morning.

I've not idea what the route is etc etc. So any help appreciated.

Thanks

You're staying on the opposite end of London. ExCeL is in the east, Heathrow is way out in the west. However, with the Elizabeth line, you now only need 1 train. You can get the eastbound Elizabeth line train to Abbey Wood and it'll take about 1 hour from Heathrow Terminal 2 & 3 to Custom House.

Thank you @Zoom7000 - that sounds great. I don't mind an hour on the train/tube. Not to work out where the station is.... lolol. So one train from Heathrow to Custom House (but the train goes on to Abbey Wood - is that right?)

Yes! One train, with the end point as Abbey Wood, which is what will appear on the timing boards/apps etc. BETT/The Excel Centre is at Customs House, so thats your get off point!

The Elizabeth Line is the Tubes newest trainline, so its airconditioned and rather comfortable.

You should be able to pick up the Elizabeth Line at Hays and Harlington (about 10 min bus ride from the Inn).

Thanks Rob - was hoping for a tube station a bit closer :-) Just because I am lazy.

I think you can pick the Liz Line up from the T2/3 station. While it's not much/any closer, it might be more convenient to get to.

Why did ya book a hotel in newcastle mun? Theres loads of hotels within a 10 min walk of the venue. Mind you the tube system is good so you should be fine - last time I went they closed a couple of the lines which made it more stressful and complicatd than it needed to be.

Yes I know, but I didn't fancy driving through or around London to get there. It's just easier to get there up the M4 which is a 3-4 hour journey from my house. I'm leaving at lunch time on Thursday. Hitting J3 will be better than trying to get through London at 5pm (I assume). I'm a novice at getting to London and would have preferred to go on the train but it's too expensive even when I add parking charges.

An hour on the tube to the event will be fine.

Ah I see.

Train is so much faster and easier mate - 2 hours into padington then straight on the tube. Hey presto sit back and relax.

Slower, but less crowded: the ferry from central London. In previous years I've got on near London Bridge and got off at the O2, then got the cable car over the river. Both routes can be paid for with a standard Oyster card. This time of year, the ferry is quiet and has an on-board cafe/bar for coffee and drinks.

I keep meaning to try the Emirates Air. It used to be free with a BETT ticket (although I can't imagine they do that anymore).

'Tis great fun, espcially if you get a plane taking off from London City Airport over the top of you :)

I'm heading there on Wednesday, never been to London before.

From what i've read on BETT's website - I'm getting off at Kings Cross, then onto the tube - Jubilee > Canning Town, then either DLR to Prince Regent, Elizabeth Line or Cable Car

Does that sound right, someone help me out lol.

I just did the route planner and this is what it gave.

Kings Cross Circle Line to Moorgate. Walk to Liverpool Street then Elizabeth Line to Custom House.

Your way should work too though.

I'd recommend getting a Circle, Hammersmith & City or Metropolitan line Eastbound from Kings Cross to Moorgate and change to the Elizabeth Line Eastbound (Platform A) there which takes you straight to Excel.

Note the Elizabeth Line you change onto at Moorgate is Liverpool Street - the signage on the platforms can catch visitors out but that's how big it is it linked 2 stations! You don't need to leave Moorgate it's all linked through underground just follow the signage.

Thanks everyone for the help with the BETT travel. My Dad and I were all good. The travel from the hotel to ExCel was excellent so all the advice given here was spot on. Really appreciated.
