HamDrive Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 Bit of a weird one but I was wondering if anyone has designed some custom server backgrounds for their VMs? 😂 Was just going through all our VMs and thought they looked a bit bland. I've added BGinfo as a start but it would be nice to see anyone else's designed something for their org? I might put a nice lockup together in Photoshop with our logo and the server's purpose (e.g Print server). Might even make a festive one and deploy it via GPO.
CrootUK Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 ...Got some spare time on your hands? This was my thought, I think others on our team would be offended if they see I had the time to do that🤣 BgInfo is plenty lol!
MatthewL Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 Nope just use standard. I use mRemote NG to connect to my machines so makes it a bit easier to identify incase you are worried about making a change on a wrong server. 2
Jcx500 Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 We just use the trust wallpaper with bginfo 1
3s-gtech Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 BGInfo, same as other PCs. If you have some time and inclination, why not?

This looks like a great FOSS alternative to Royal TS which is what i've used previously. Thanks!
jthompson Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 Not sure how well maintained mRemoteNG is these days. Last stable release was nearly 5 years ago. We use RDM and differentiate some of the VMs with UI accent colours in that. The Veeam server, for instance, gets a green accent.

J010 Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 We just keep it standard across the board but I love the creativity!
mdrabble Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 I use this Script https://tinyurl.com/y3wmsh7o - essentially BGInfo A script used to download, install and configure the latest BgInfo version on a Windows Server 2016, 2019 or 2022. The BgInfo folder will be created on the C: drive if the folder does not already exist. Then the latest BgInfo.zip file will be downloaded and extracted in the BgInfo folder. The LogonBgi.zip file which holds the preferred settings will also be downloaded and extracted to the BgInfo folder. After extraction both .zip files will be deleted. A registry key (regkey) to AutoStart the BgInfo tool in combination with the logon.bgi config file will be created. At the end of the script BgInfo will be started for the first time and the PowerShell window will be closed.
bushby Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 i would use the scripts that DJ made a few years back https://github.com/DJ-1701/GenerateWallpaper
