How do you send your assessment reports (electronic) home?

Hello all

Our reports are created in SIMS and are sent home through a mail merge (with the help of a number of tools such as A-PDF and Mail Merge Toolkit).

It's a very detailed and long process so we are looking for alternative ways to get an electronic copy of the report home. We are happy with creating the report within SIMS. We don't have In Touch as we have other communication packages but may be open to purchasing it, although I imagine it would be very costly to use it just a few times a year. We have Class Charts but their reports facility is too basic at the moment.

Any recommendations or advice appreciated.

Wouldn’t be that easy as you’d have to identify each file by the file name to go to the right email address.

EduLink One. You can send it directly but we just leave it in linked documents and let parents know.

So my convoluted process is.

 

Export to PDF

Use PDF-Rename to get the pupils name from the front of the report

Use file renamer to tidy up the spaces

SchoolPost them out using the filename to distribute (it reads the filename)

We use it for exam results too which is easier as they have exam IDs which are readable too.

We did previously uses SIMS intouch, but we moved to Edulink, as the process was much easier, and then the parents and students can also go back and collect old reports, already in PDF Format. As I do believe intouch liked to send as HTML and/or Word documents, so Edulink was a bit of a win.

 

We are about to start the process of moving MIS, so come Term 4 (after February Half term) next year, we will probably have a really different way of doing it.

That part is easy, have the bulk export system name them with a unique id, and also export a csv file with each id and the multiple email addresses.

 

What I'd probably do these days is have an online shared drive, one folder per student, and script it to share each folder with all the involved people, then export the reports directly to those folders

We send ours through email and via My Child at School using Bromcom.

We use Frog for reports. Really easy - just run the extractor and they are all then ready for parents to view. We also send out a Frog message to the parent app which alerts them.

 

Also helps us as we can track who has actually read the report, unlike most other systems we looked at.

 

They are also very good at helping with it - we had reports that were not on the MIS but still needed to send them out, so we reached out and they made us a tool to do that.
