Sophos was blocking it for us. We had to add it to a https exception. -
Shared iPads and Smoothwall filtering
rob_coles replied to timbo343's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
We’re using SSL redirect to login page. Won’t show whitelisted etc but that’s pretty much bbc etc -
Just a bit of an update. Smoothwall taken a look, appears to be an issue with Sophos web control. Turning web control off and chrome works perfectly. Only a handful of clients with this and they are using edge for the time being as I’m not comfortable turning it off.

We’ve seen this pop up on a couple of devices today, suspect it’s to do with ssl intercept on our smoothwall. Got a ticket open with sw see what they can do. Again using edge as a work around.

How do you send your assessment reports (electronic) home?
rob_coles replied to spkay's topic in MIS Systems
EduLink One. You can send it directly but we just leave it in linked documents and let parents know.- 13 replies

Once had a policy get to governor level before anyone had noticed I’d forbidden country and western on Thursday afternoon. They agreed but just queried why Thursday afternoons…. Just demonstrates how pointless they are.

Are you using Sophos at all? Sophos has a issue with Speedtests. I’d be tempted to cli version of Speedtest to check results. https://www.speedtest.net/apps/cli

We’re using google translate on an iPad. When I issued and demoed it to the student the reaction was remarkable. Took a picture of some worksheet and translated it. Face was priceless. Guidance I was given was to leave the iPad in English to try and encourage the student to learn the language. Hope that helps.

EduLink One - Do your parents use EduLink One?
rob_coles replied to David44's topic in Cloud Services
Our Staff/Students use AD credentials, parents use accounts generated in the backend of Edulink. I normally filter the accounts in the backend to parents with email addresses that have never logged in. You can click the mail icon that will send them all logins. You can customise the welcome email, We've added bits in asking to use the update information feature for example. Most of our parents are fairly onboard with us. We get maybe a dozen or so password resets when it comes to parents evenings. Students are instructed how to login as part of the first ICT lesson, for the most part once you've sent them the details thats about it. Rob -
+1 for Edulink, If I remember you get a credit balance when you create a twilo account, we put extra £100 credit on as we was nervous about how much it was going to cost. We still haven't started using the credit we put on after 3/4 parents evenings. Regards Rob

What on site filtering do you have? Most products have some way of filtering off site now. We’re smoothwall on site and using smoothwall connect.

Going to third EduLink. Great product that just keeps evolving and adding features. Support is excellent. -
Foldr (App) by Intune, has anyone successfully deployed it?
rob_coles replied to AvaFX's topic in Cloud Services
We’ve got foldr although haven’t deployed it with intune have had some cracking support from them. -
I’ve had A4 & A5 and a remap solved the sluggish gear change for me. And increased bhp and economy. Can’t beat an Audi

We have a ridiculously long domain name too! We just purchased a 4 letter plus a co.uk domain name. Best £5.88 I’ve spent.

Having the same issue. Work around was going full screen alt tab and share the second full screen power point. Bizarrely only one user had reported it.

Few years back was involved in a student voice meeting. Student spent the best part of five minutes begging for chrome to be installed rather than internet explorer. Couldn’t get a word in edgewise. Had been the default browser for a couple of years 🤦🏼 just double click on “chrome” Then went on to more pressing concerns about the quality of bog roll.

We’ve been using EduLink for years now. Although not really sure what your issue is, contact support. One of the best things with Overnet is support. They will bend over backwards to make sure everything is as should be. EduLink is a great product that is constantly evolving. One of the few company’s that I’d recommend. Regards Rob
