PaperCut Client won't boot on startup
rob_coles replied to abillybob's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
We are using the "local-cache" version (pc-client-local-cache.exe), is a smarter version that first copies itself and associated files to the local drive and launches itself from there. -

We've just moved from Pcounter to Papercut one of the reasons being was for ios support. We have windows print server with Papercut and a secondary Papercut server on the mac. Which ticks the reporting side. The mac itself also becomes a print server it just feeds its accounting back to the windows server. We've only just finished in today and it works very well. Bonjour service was a bit awkward at first as I didn’t fully understand what it did. We're vlan'd up on site and we had to create virtual interfaces for the different vlans to allow broadcast. It's a bit of messing at first especially when you’re a mac novice like me. For us now ipads can be either on our guest wifi or our own school ipad vlans. You have to point the ipad to an internal website to install the app for print release. We've also installed webprint for bring your own device in sandbox mode which allows a lot more file types. The following file types are allowed from web print. Application / File Type File Extension(s) Microsoft Excel xlam, xls, xlsb, xlsm, xlsx, xltm, xltx Microsoft PowerPoint pot, potm, potx, ppam, pps, ppsm, ppsx, ppt, pptm, pptx Microsoft Word doc, docm, docx, dot, dotm, dotx, rtf PDF pdf XPS xps

Moodle - Host Ourselves or Use Hosting Service
rob_coles replied to gopackgo's topic in Virtual Learning Platforms
We host our own, original reason was our Internet was rubbish. However having direct control has its benefits. Our moodle is using 10+ gig now which is a lot of hosting. Also can use ldap on site. Also useful having a Web server on site for your own site and many other open sourced packages like WordPress etc -
Looking for a new system

We're using exa & smoothwall both work well -
Sorted. Never set sql to mixed mode authentication. After that just detached and reattached db.

We've just done summer upgrade which worked fine followed by upgrading sql to 2012. SQL migration tool appeared to work but now no logins. Just says invalid username & password. I've rolled the server back in a mean time but will need to upgrade/migrate at some point. Anyone else having had this?
