New home monitor for Your WFH

Please can you recommend a 24 or 27in for working from home? I currently have a work provided Ezio 2460 but changing jobs so it will need to be returned.

What is your budget? Do you have a preferred resolution? Are you looking for a plain monitor, one with a height adjustable stand or one with a USB hub/Ethernet dock built into it?

All the Dell monitors I've had over the years have been good in their class. Choosing the ones on offer trends to give better delivery dates - we had a warranty claim on one and to get the specific model for a direct replacement was a 2 month wait, so we got something slightly different and it arrived next day.

I love my AOC Q32E2N. In some ways it’s maybe too big, but it makes split screen working easy and the panel is very good. Very cheap currently!

Depends on your space and setup

 

22" Full HD is good enough or two if you have the space. I have some of the older Dell business ones I brought myself.

 

Amazon have some good cheap monitor stands for them

I don’t need height adjustment as it is wall mounted. Idea I want at least a 24in screen with a HDMI or Display port and DVI.

I have a Dell ultrasharp 27” with usb-c PD, Ethernet etc. it’s brilliant but not cheap.

 

I have second older dell 1080p 23” as an additional screen if I need it.

 

Powered from a dell XP 13”. Love it. Would love a 2nd ultra sharp for it!

 

You do get some decent offered on Dells page though. Worth checking out.

Last winter I upgraded my home office/gaming setup to a 34" ultrawide for productivity/content editing and 27" 144hz for pc/series x gaming, both 1440p, both by ViewSonic. No complaints at all considering they are entry level screens.

Have a look on CCL Computers, perhaps the VX2718-2KPC-mhd suits your needs?

 

Seen as though my setup is rather overkill and a pricey outlay, I used an introductory offer on PayPal credit over 6 months. Very good way to keep my setup nice and up to date without breaking the bank. Can't see much benefit of going all 4K high refresh rate, the prices are eye watering.

I got myself a Dell U2715H (27" 1440p) just before lockdown, and can really tell the difference when I have to go in to the office and just use the standard 23" 1080p display.

 

As with many others (it seems) CCL was the place to go.

Didn't they change the scale in 2021? Stuff that would have been classed "A" is now "F" or "G".

So many appliances were able to get A++ ratings I think it wasn’t driving efficiency at all.

It has worked though - people are demanding better efficiency from their devices. Law of unintended consequences - your new fridge is very efficient, it just does a bad job of being a fridge!

I have 2 24" monitors but I'm not happy as so hard to get both the right angle (and takes a lot of room). Looking at options for 32 or 34 widescreen, does not have to be 4k and I'm not a gamer but do a small bit of video editing for YouTube. A second monitor might be an option in the future that I could use jus for 4k output when editing.

I tried a 34" ultra wide and it felt really small. Check the screen area before you commit.

 

Work have now supplied 32" monitors - one for home and one for office. One is curved which I thought was a gimmick, but I definitely find it more comfortable.

 

Personally I'd prefer 2 x smaller monitors, but if you don't like that, an extra wide would probably work well, but because of the way the screens are measured, you might need bigger than you expect.
