Well, I’m so glad they told us in plenty of time, otherwise we might never have noticed!

Kent has literally been 30 degrees for the past week and rendered me useless.

I wonder what temperature its takes to be 'extreme heat'

I wondered about that. Forecast temperatures in the area shown are no higher than what we have had in the south east. Why didn’t we get a warning?

Yes… it started last month… so why hasn’t there been there an alert for the south east?

I take it back… there was a warning for the south east but it wasn’t as widely publicised

Yeah... Summer is definitely here. Bedroom is still bearable, but only just! If it keeps going up and up, my little evaporative cooler is not going to be able to do much more to help.

Going through my regime of open all the windows and doors at 6.30, monitoring outside and inside temperature then closing all windows and curtains once the outside temperature matches inside temperature.

Careful management got bedroom temperature down to 21° from 25°. OH had a shower in ensuite and left door open; Now it's 27°and 100% humidity. Brilliant.

Thunderstorms can be hit-and-miss (highly localised) It could be pouring with rain here, while in the next neighbourhood just down the road they might not even know about it!

Today's weather warning has been updated to include two amber warnings for thunderstorms:

It looks lively in/near those areas on the lightning map:

It's about 29.2c upstairs in the house. The garden shed is about 35c! It's not the just the heat, it's the amount of time it's going on for. This isn't the worst heatwave I've experienced though, in July 2018 the grass went brown. Edited by Protec

Yeah, the weather was on about thunderstorms and hail mainly in the south east. We normally get a good thunderstorm after lots of hot weather like we have had for a while.

#SummerOf76!

Was just debating whether to post something similar, but decided I’d probably get too much grief from the young whippersnappers about my age…

It’s just at my happy heat now, high 20s to low 30s and I’m at my best!

Helps that I sleep well wrapped up in a duvet through it too [emoji28]

Duvet?! That’s been on the bedroom floor for days. Just a sheet (single bed size) draped across the double bed and half the time I haven’t been under that.
