synaesthesia Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 Got a batch of the Dynabooks through a different scheme. Glad we avoided them for the main lot because they're dire. Thankfully though after a quick check of one, box it straight back up and send out to the students - hands washed! Did rather annoy me to see the DFE documentation clearly stating they need to speak to the school if something's filtered that shouldn't be - we have no control over it! Interesting to note though the use of OpenDNS for filtering in these cases rather than Cisco Umbrella.

My school received some Dynabooks from NCC (the Portege A30-E-1JCs). You're right. They are absolutely dire! Whoever created the Dynabook Windows image was an absolute idiot since they don't even login properly as 'localuser'. I feel sorry for the students since the DfE Chromebooks they were previously assigned were miles better. 1

Don't think the admin password was provided by the DfE, but then again I'm not the point of contact for the Trust so could be wrong
