It’s somewhat counterintuitive that ITP would cause clots, it’s normally associated with low platelet counts and an inability of blood to clot.It's partly the fact that it's counterintuitive that led to the link being made to the AZ vaccine, as opposed to the generally increased risk of suffering a blood clot from either the vaccine or infection with the virus. The raw numbers are 11 cases per million people receiving the AZ vaccine.

Under the new ping regime neither I nor Mr gee40 would have been pinged. I would have had contact 3 days before for mine and JoesDad’s was 4 days.

Ditto Posted August 3, 2021 Posted August 3, 2021 Well, that looks hopeful. It is better than the potential 100,000 positive test results being predicted just 2 - 3 weeks ago. The peak was just short of 50k per day just under 2 weeks ago. A word of caution though. The rate of drop has slowed sharply over the last few days, and it wouldn't surprise me to see it rise again within a week. There seemed to be a strong opinion that August would see a peak, although with uncertainty as to when. Within a couple of weeks we will will be around 90% of adults vaccinated and 70% fully vaccinated, even allowing for 2 weeks post second jab. I would expect within the next 6 months there will be a better understanding of length of immunity, but the fact we will see the first booster jabs in about a month I think is indicative.

The weekday figure today published today for Monday does shows an increase on the previous Monday of 5.6%. Looking at a single data point is not best practice, but I fear the recent case rate lull may coming to an end. To coin a phrase, case rates may be somewhat bumpy over the coming weeks.

No responsibility for enforcement and policing I think is understandable. 'Promotion' is perhaps too strong to use, but that's a little more grey for me - at the very least I think educating the risks of doing so or not could be covered as part of PSHE.
