Up until recently the South West's infection levels were pretty low but they are ramping up fast. This week alone, two of my children (and partners) and two of my friends have had to isolate because of being in contact with someone who has tested positive According to the Gov Covid map (https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/interactive-map) levels are dropping sharply which is in line with most of the country. Your local area is tending to drop, but there are a few boroughs that have seen a slight increase in cases (single digits though, not huge). Edit: it's pretty similar to the state here in Preston, 8/10 places are seeing a drop, a couple of areas have seen a minor increase. Levels still too high though. That is all going to depend on how they plan to reopen I think. They're going to need to go slowly and methodically. There are a fair few in the political sphere who are keen to go for a big bang reopening of schools on 8th March, but I think the government current plan is to go slower than that and do it stage by stage and watch the community transmission as they do so. I just hope they don't blow it and we end up with yet another lockdown after everything.

PlantHead Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 Scotland might be the canary in the coalmine. They will open schools first and everyone will watch what happens to their figures. We have a 60% increase in cases over the last 7 days in my area so lockdown is still the way to go.

However per capita Australia imports about the same as UK, so a more complex breakdown is needed if we're going to compare the two. Pity the reporter didn't bother to add that information.

We may be dropping now, but we did have a massive spike in infections not long ago so they are still much higher than they have been prior to September of last year. ON one of our local social media groups people have been commenting on what happens when you go to the vaccination centre. Most people say they go inside - get jabbed - then have to wait around but when Mrs mikeprice had to go for hers then we went through the drivethough route (indoors was an option but DT was free and seems less risky) We just drove up - a lasy did all the paperwork and went through a talk about what it is etc - took a couple of minutes - then she got the jab and we left no waiting around after - not mentioned at all - just a leaflet saying what to do if there was a problem what have other people found???

It depends if you've driven there or not from my friend who is helping out with it all. If you drive they normally ask you to wait 10-15 mins just to be safe.. don't want to cause a crash. If your a passenger more likely to be able to go quicker it seems.

mikeprice Posted February 5, 2021 Posted February 5, 2021 Oh yes - missed that out - while the doc was doing the jab the lady sorted out the 2nd jab sounds like maybe I will have to wait when mine comes around as Mrs mikeprice doesn't (want to ) drive (her license is so old that it is probably in Latin - and she has never had a phto license - no idea if it is still valid!!! I suspect it is something to do with being asked to drive home from the pub???)

jmak Posted February 5, 2021 Posted February 5, 2021 Valid til she's 70Although you are required to get it updated if you move house which makes it more difficult to avoid getting a photo card licence. (Unlikely to be a problem if you never drive though...)
