We use esafe at moment but it's killing our internet as inspects all internet traffic before end user see it, 5seconds to load bbc etc. Management like esafe due to keylogging and human reporting.

I'm looking at impero and netsupport for esafe element which is better any why, what do they do from a esafe point of view.

Impero can be deployed cloud based or on-premises.

The good is:

1: Has a MSI client installation.

2: If you unplug the network cable, the computer won’t work until it’s plugged in.

3: The support is the best and highly recommend.

4: You can deploy policies which can block staff attempting to access the entire network or to change which computers are in that group.

5: You can make your own word policy so, if a students searches that word up, it’ll close the application and you can set a punishment like, blocking their internet access for 5 mins.

6: Everything is logged and you can view it on the Impero Event Viewer.

7: You can set power policies so, the computer can wake up at a certain time or you can turn on the computer via Impero Console.

8: Easy to setup Impero Server.

We've used Impero in the past and have recently moved to Netsupport. From a safeguarding point of view the phrase cloud in Netsupport is brilliant for seeing at a glance what keywords are being picked up. The safeguarding team have access to just the areas of the software they need so don't get overloaded. Policies and keyword lists are easy to set up and edit. The client is minimal and even runs on some really old Intel Atom machines we have that used to be crippled running Impero. So far we've had no issues at all.

I've heard a recent rumour, that Impero have just started making redundancies.. including the entire Q&A team.

So I wouldn't go near Impero at the moment.

@MJTayloronline Posts like this really frustrate me, so you are spreading a rumour, you don’t even know if it is true, online to many people, which could have an impact on the company.

Please provide a link to back up your post.

Sorry to frustrate you.

The word rumour was used more to protect those who the information has come from.

If you must know my school is 5 minutes up the road from Impero HQ, and I live 10 minutes away. So knowing people who live nearby, means I'm bound to know some of the employees.

Merely trying to save some tax payers money. I don't have any malicious intent!

Hi there, I work for NetSupport, some of the safeguarding features we offer include:

  • Our Safeguarding module already contains a vast library of over 12,000 phrases and words which have been compiled with the help of the IWF and school safeguarding leads. There is also the ability to add your own words and set the priority for each phrase or phrase category.
  • Contextual intelligence-based Risk Index that delivers a numerical risk score based on the context and history of a child’s activities
  • Language packs – We recognise the multi-cultural make-up of many schools today, so in addition to our English phrase lists we have phrases lists for 12 other languages.
  • Fully secure cloud-based safeguarding console so Safeguarding Leads can access alerts while on the go
  • NetSupport School and NetSupport DNA control internet access at a network level. This allows compatibility with all major browsers without the need for plugins or extensions.
  • Schedule queries to automatically send to stakeholders at the end of the day/week
  • MIS and Active Directory integration – Allowing easy and efficient grouping of students and devices, along with the configuration of setting via Group Policy.

If you would like further information, or a free evaluation and/or webinar, please do not hesitate to private message me or call the office :)

Hi

We have used NetSupport DNA now for several years. There is definitely no lag in internet speeds while it's monitoring. As above, the word cloud is great. Installation / deployment "just works". Any questions feel free to shout up but I'd recommend contacting them for a fully functional trial

I have used NetSupport for the last few years for monitoring of words typed into the machines in school. It's so easy to use and now they have a cloud offering, so you can set up logins for other members of staff to check what has been triggered. Really competitevly priced too!

Hi @MJTayloronline

Our product offering and their quality are of upmost importance to us. I'd like to reassure everyone viewing this thread that our QA team still and will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our product suite is rigorously tested.

Many Thanks,

Courtney @ Impero

Ok Courtney - can you specifically answer the points raised by MJTayloronline - have Impero made redundancies recently? Have any of the QA team been made redundant? Has the entire QA team been made redundant?

One to add to your list if you want something comparative to eSafe (particularly with regard to human moderation) would be Smoothwall monitor. Obviously, I will tell you it's fantastic, as I am horrifically biased, but if you want to know more i'd be happy to chat.

I have used Net Support in the past and have also been a strong user of Impero for a number of years. Firstly, can I say that Impero is not truly cloud based, it merely is a 'remote desktop' type of set up.

We have been using SENSO Cloud for a while now and even been helping Renato Software with its development as far is its used in schools goes.

This is a truly cloud based product and I have to say, knocks spots off the others in many ways. The biggest asset is the E-Safety which have found to be the best there is. Happy to discuss with anybody if you want more information on why we took the plunge.

As far as we are concerned it ticks all the boxes. no add-on's to web browsers to make it work which is why we moved away from Impero in the first place. It works at network level. easy to install, impossible for students to bypass. developing all the time and best of all, no overhead on resources so we can easily use on lower spec devices. What I like the best is I can use it on my phone from anywhere!

I have to agree with @Queensbury. We have been using Senso for a few years now after becoming frustrated with the quality of product updates and support provided by Impero. Working with Senso to fix issues is a genuine pleasure as opposed to the hit and miss affair that Impero support turned into towards the end of our use of the product. Senso is developing all the time and some of the new developments are really exciting (see
from around 16 minutes in for details). The fact that it is truly cloud based has allowed me to provide support and safeguarding information even when at conferences in the past which has led to really positive comments from local safeguarding organisations. From an IT techie perspective it allows us to mange our network easily and quickly from any device, and the integration with Chromebooks (and Google Drive shortly) is of real benefit to us. The safeguarding element is covered
if you have a specific interest in safeguarding but there is so much more to the product.

One of the reasons we went with Impero is that it seemed to be the only service that offered protection on iPads (through it's own browser).

I don't know if this is still the case.

+1 here for NetSupport, used across all schools in the trust with no issues, greatly improving the e-safety side for the safeguarding team.

Personally not a fan of impero, lots of speed issues in the past. NetSupport seem to be investing heavily in their products (just my personal opinion) and there pricing structure makes more sense.

I would get demos of both or pop and see schools using them.

@dobbyit. Just noticed you are in Lancashire. I’m in Bolton if you wanted to see a live demo in a large primary school

Thank you, we went for NetSupport love it at the moment

I believe this is now available with NetSupport but only using their browser, not tried it out yet

We do have support for iPads via our own browser application, search for NetSupport Browser on the App Store. :)
