Hi The role is based at the The Ferrers school in Higham Ferrers but the trust is based in Cambridgeshire.

I have to run two witless networks, my ubiquity one for everything all on one SSID then a sky one an SSID using the original sky router just for my sky mesh, my main sky box would not connect to the ubiquity for more that 30 seconds :-(

Did you sort? I’m sure it’s with ODBC? I can look at my old notes tomorrow if needed.

+1 for NetSupport looked at the whole range of products. they did everything we wanted and the support has been excellent. Every school in the trust has it now!

+1 here for NetSupport, used across all schools in the trust with no issues, greatly improving the e-safety side for the safeguarding team. Personally not a fan of impero, lots of speed issues in the past. NetSupport seem to be investing heavily in their products (just my personal opinion) and there pricing structure makes more sense. I would get demos of both or pop and see schools using them.

When did you last look at NetSupport, it’s no way as expensive as it was and much more reliable than Impero. Have deployed the NetSupport suite across a MAT and works really well especially DNA

So I have a school whose eclipse is no longer supported due to its age... cloud/mls replacement costs are a little high! What do people have as cheaper alternatives? I’m not really looking to free/open source options.

Interesting that no one is willing to share the reasons why they want to leave? I think every customer leaving impero to NetSupport would be happy to list the reasons!! I know when we left I certainly could, impero has had its issues for a while now! Looks like they might be sorting it but NetSupport is one of the best decisions our MAT made!

Had a similar issue with SCCM and GUID id's in the past but then it might be completely different... it does sound like a nuisance but net support is a much better product than impero, we have across 9 schools now and it's a godsend!

NetSupport all the way! LanSchool is ok for what it is but it's just not quite as good as NetSupport! We are deploying DNA and school across all schools in the MAT I support. Removing Impero and abtutor! Staff are loving it! Get them to give you a demo, there support is good too (can you tell I'm a big fan) always to provide more info if you want :-)

We recently faced this decision, netsupport was a no brainier for us!! Pricing, support and overall product is better! All just seems more thought out and intuitive! Staff love it too!

Did anyone actually have a proper sound blaster or Roland card? I feel old too! :-( We found a 586 pc in a cupboard ages ago and it brings painful memories of my friend getting a 486 and trumping by 386sx Kids today will never understand the pain of editing the dos scripts and decided wether to have a mouse or the CD-ROM as your 1mb of ram could not cope with both...

Argh ID Pro Is a pet hate of mine it so clunky! We have a Rio Pro 2 printer and we use the card designer in net 2! It just works for us and means we can programme as we print!

I run a minecraft club I have it on a dedicated 2012 vm, few tweaks and its runs like a dream. I run it all the time unless it gets abused then only during the club. It's very memory hungry sometime and I suspect running it on a teachers laptop may cause it to crash or tick.

I would take the netapp over the hp any day support is a million times better. It automatically email there support for you! And they call you! If you are looking for something small tho look at dell, when I looked it was cheaper. They even did some all in one chassis with servers perfect for a single solution

I have a MSA1500 at another school and the netapp beats that hands down. Not compared it with the newer hp. We brought the netapp for its snapshotting feature and its duplication, small wasn't really on the list tho Have you looked at the dell equlalogic?

I have a netapp, great product, I probably don't use it to anywhere near is full potential. Deduplicator is a great feature!

I did a course a couple of years back, it may have changed since I did but it wasn't too difficult, just a lot of patience needed when your 1st begin polishing. You will need a kit with a microscope tho and the lapping paper does cost a little. It is useful and I have done a few installs very cheaply but most fibre optic installers don't polish anymore they buy pig tails and splice using a splice machine.. But they cost lots of pennies!

Just brought it, I've spent £7.49 on worse things :-) maybe it will stop me spending £7.49 on impulse buys...

Are the servers running Broadcom nics on smart load balancing? Used to have weird issues with them and hp switches dropping pings if they were not trunked
