Joedetic Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 As pyroman said Comfortably Numb by floyd. But Echoes is quite a nice track...shine on...or if the buggers get mean to me later on in life I'll make em sit through the WHOLE of Atom Heart Mother......
Edu-IT Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Never really thought about it. Probably something by Savage Garden because that's the only album I've listened to an awful lot.
mattx Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 (edited) 'Always look on the bright side of life.' or Samuel Barber - Adagio for Strings [ for a bit of culture ] or [ as I am massive Jazz fan ] Lalo Schifrin - Theme to Dirty Harry. Ignore the pictures, just listen to the wicked drum and bass line - [ used to open up my old jazz club radio show to this every week.... ] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujfFSW9074c&feature=related Edited May 14, 2008 by mattx
joe90bass Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Another vote for Comfortably Numb (or Shine On!!), or Forever Autumn Nice to see a load of Floyd fans here
mattx Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Got me going old stuff now - just found the bullitt chase on You Tube:
elsiegee40 Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Queen's "Another one bites the dust"... I've always liked Queen Although the earlier Birdy Song suggestion appeals to my sense of humour!
muppet Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 My sister passed away last year after a long illness, so she had time to decide on the music she wanted....probably too much time!!! First was "Who wants to live forever" - Queen Next was "The Last Beat of My Heart" - Siouxie and the Banshees Finally she had "We'll Meet Again" - Vera Lynn And at the Wake she had "Wish you were here" - Floyd!! And all other music had to be heavy rock / punk / indie. Needless to say she also expected everyone to drink loads and "pogo / mosh" the night away. Not bad choices for a 32 year old, made us all smile. Although there were some funny looks from the older relatives.
Jake Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 I've known what mine will be for a long time now, Mike and the Mechanics - In The Living Years
Joedetic Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 You'll all be planning your what coffins you want next n all. Mum's made a strange request of a wicker coffin :S
witch Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 My dad had: "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park" by Tom Lehrer : AN EVENING (WASTED) WITH TOM LEHRER - 1. Poisoning Pigeons in the Park Which caused great hilarity in the immediate family, and total confusion for those who were all 'funereal' and solemn!
tech_guy Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 (edited) Hey Mattx, count the vw beetle in the Bullitt chase scene - it sure gets around SF doesn't it! Edited May 15, 2008 by tech_guy
Joedetic Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 @witch Tom Lehrer is hilarious...good choice. I like the masochism tango and the Irish Ballad
OutToLunch Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Can I have the Countdown theme played just as I go through the doors for cremation?
Pyroman Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 You'll all be planning your what coffins you want next n all. Mum's made a strange request of a wicker coffin :S My mum's got hers planned out already she wants a horse drawn carriage with a new orleans jazz band on top :-S told her stop spending the inheritance then, wonder how much that'd actually cost?
GrumbleDook Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 My mum's got hers planned out already she wants a horse drawn carriage with a new orleans jazz band on top :-S told her stop spending the inheritance then, wonder how much that'd actually cost? Flippin 'eck .... That *Was* my old fella's funeral. We followed the carriage from the undertakers and stopped at teh start of the road where the church. We met up with the jazz band here and got out to walk behind it for about 300 yards ... 'When The Saints' was playing as we carried him in and ad we carried him out, and they joined us in the Parish Social Centre next to the church for the knees-up afterwards. They had never played together, had had a drink or two (a touch of the mountain dew courtesy of the old fella) before they met the carriage and a good time was had by all. In fact it was a fantastic funeral that was only missing one person ... a crotchety, old bloke moaning that he should be give the sax as he could do far better ...
phreak Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Either REM - It's the end of the world Or I would have said Prodigy - firestarter for cremation as well.
steve_nfi Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 As pyroman said Comfortably Numb by floyd. But Echoes is quite a nice track...shine on...or if the buggers get mean to me later on in life I'll make em sit through the WHOLE of Atom Heart Mother...... Coming Back to Life by Pink Floyd could be quite amusing.
mattx Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Hey Mattx, count the vw beetle in the Bullitt chase scene - it sure gets around SF doesn't it! Never noticed before !! But now you say it....
tmcd35 Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Either REM - It's the end of the world I had said 'Sweetness Follows' by R.E.M., but have changed my mind (am I allowed to do that?), 'Try Not To Breathe' also by R.E.M. is a far better choice... Besides I don't plan to die! I'm watching those pesky Japanese closely. I reckon they'll find a way of copying my brain patterns into a robot and I'll live forever. If they haven't got it quite right before the end I'll opt for cryogenics with instructions not to wake me up until my brain can be photocopied into a robot.
Friez Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Never thought about it. But knowing me, probably the benny hill theme!
tech_guy Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Never noticed before !! But now you say it.... I'm one of those sad sad people who looks for the continuity errors in films...
