jj99 Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 Hello, We have recently on boarded a school into our trust and its the 1st school that uses Nationwide, as part of the on-board we moved SIMS and re imaged computers. Nationwide want to charge for the reconfigure of SIMS which is fine but they also want a £115 per Trust-E install for finance clients which irks me slightly as that is 3 PC's and if image them in the future is another £115 each time! I have tried briefly myself but had little luck I must be missing a DLL or something! Does anyone know a secret way of installing it or a way around it? Thanks
DrBeaker Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 Trust decision, Trust can pay. That's peanuts by comparison to what we know gets spent on "things".
FN-GM Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 Trust decision, Trust can pay. That's peanuts by comparison to what we know gets spent on "things". The software is called Trust-E noting to do with MATs.
bald_pig Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 The software is called Trust-E noting to do with MATs. It was the trust's decision to move the SIMS server and perform the steps that made it necessary to reinstall the software. If the trust hadn't made that decision, the reinstall wouldn't be necessary. Nationwide should provide install instructions but I guess they deliberately withhold the info so they can charge! 1

jezi55 Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 Or do what we did, we have 4 computers that need the trust-e installed. On the phone the engineer said that the upgrade would be free, he then went back on his word and said it was approximately £100. I then asked for the instructions so we could pay for 1 and then id do the other 3 myself which they then gave me some instructions but said that if anything happened to those devices i would be responsible.
dcwhitworth Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 We got them to install Trust-E onto a PC then virtualised it. When staff need to connect to it they use an RDP session.
Popular Post round2it Posted February 26, 2019 Popular Post Posted February 26, 2019 don't know if this will help pm me if you need anything else I copied the installer files the last time they were in but give it a try 1) Open the 'Trust-e Licence Install set' folder and run Setup.exe Install Truste to the following path: C:\Program Files\NRS\truste or if 64 bit: c:\program files (x86)\nrs\Truste IF YOU GET ANY ERRORS DURING INSTALLATION PLEASE CLICK IGNORE. 2) Copy NRS2000Cashless.ini from 'INI File' folder to C:\Windows Then open the NRS2000Cashless.ini from the Windows folder and wherever x.x.x.x is displayed replace this with the IP address of the Kitchen PC. 3) Copy contents of the Truste folder from the kitchen PC over the top of the Truste folder on the client PC you are installing on, apart from the sqlData and Reports folder. E.G Copy from: \\KITCHEN\Truste or \\CASHLESS\Truste$ to: c:\program files\nrs\Truste or c:\program files (x86)\nrs\Truste 4) Open the 'Report Generator Install Set\Rgen9 Setup' folder and run Setup.exe Install Report Generator to the following path: C:\Program Files\NRS\Rgen9 or c:\program files (x86)\nrs\Rgen9 Copy contents of 'Report Generator Install Set\EXE' folder to C:\Program Files\NRS\Rgen9 or c:\program files (x86)\nrs\Rgen9 Run the RunMe.bat file from the 'Report Generator Install Set\Send Report to Application' folder. 5

DrBeaker Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 Good on you that you managed to sort it. But aren't you concerned that if there's any problems now it won't be supported by the cashless catering company? Or if so will be at a massive charge? Call me cynical but we know how things like this normally end up in schools.

I have been trying to get them to correct one of our school names on their system for 5 years without success.
ChrisMiles Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 We deploy trust-e using RemoteApp so we don't have to bother with their ridiculous charges. If I was you though I'd do a security review of it as soon as possible. Nationwide's default setup is some of the least secure installs I've ever come across. Assuming you don't have anything brand new I wouldn't mind a small wager I can tell you the username/password used to connect to your cashless database, the vnc password for all your tills, at least 1 login and password for trust-e. The sort of thing any enterprising student could use to edit balances etc.
howartp Posted August 18, 2020 Posted August 18, 2020 Sorry to bump an old thread. Has anyone put Rgen9 onto Windows 10 and had a problem with the installer - it copies files then I think it's the registering modules that fails and rolls back. "The installer was interrupted before NRS Report Generator v9 could be installed. You need to restart the installer to try again." Also can anyone check what is in the RunMe.bat - that's an extra step that isn't in the install files we were given by our installer? Peter
round2it Posted August 18, 2020 Posted August 18, 2020 no not yet i am going to install later this summer as moving everything to win 10 i will watch this thread
howartp Posted August 18, 2020 Posted August 18, 2020 Ok, problem solved. Don't logon as systemadmin if you're an RM school. The msi can't find n:\My Settings\some\folder\that\exists Use domain\adminstrator and it's fine. Peter
3s-gtech Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Just as another bump - I've successfully moved the Trust-e software to another PC without any of the install files. It doesn't need any registry entries, just the DB settings in the C:\Windows folder and registration of the DLL and OCX files.
3s-gtech Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 I don't particularly want them to roast me for doing so, but I can if it's allowed! Basically - copy the folder across from Program Files (x86). Copy msvbvm50.dll from C:\Windows\SysWow64 (or wherever it may be on your old system) and put it in the truste folder. Copy NRS2000Cashless.INI from C:\Windows Paste everything into place on your new machine Register every DLL and OCX in the folders. If you don't copy msvbvm50.dll across then NRStill.ocx won't register and some of the controls won't work. You can use a batch file to do this, basically: @echo off for %%v in ("C:\Program Files (x86)\nrs\truste\*.dll") do ( REM (unregister) regsvr32 /u /s "%%v" regsvr32 /s "%%v" ) Repeat for each folder then for OCX too. The software should now work. 3
mrbios Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 (edited) I'm trying to move a trust-e install to a new Pc at the moment but im getting stuck at a password screen. I've followed everything in this thread, our reval unit works and i think trust-e is all installed etc however when i run trust-e.exe it asks for a password, but a different password screen to the one you get when you login to trust-e. I've tried the usual passwords that log me in to the trust-e software, then i get an error of the following Error Number: -2147467259 Error Description: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen(Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. In module: modJG_ADODatabase In Routine: OpenADOConnection If i click yes to retry error description changes to: Invalid authorization specification Anyone come across that one? EDIT: Scratch that, looks like i copied the wrong NRSCashless ini file. Edited August 4, 2021 by mrbios
MrBrow Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 (edited) Sorry to drag up an old thread but it seems logical to keep all this together as a 'how to'. I'm trying to install the software on a new machine (clean build of Windows 10) and following all the above gets me nearly to the end. What's not been covered is the actual till software after the Program File data has been copied - is this TillXP that needs to be run? When I do run it, I get 'Terminal is waiting for a connection'. The NRS2000cashless.ini is in the right place even though it didn't seem to be picking it up and I had to manually enter the SQL server and username/pw. Also, anyone know anything about the silientbatch.exe that I found on a NRS till int he startup? Seems to launch a load of stuff but recreating that on another machines only runs that exe and not all the associated cmd's, nor the TillXP software. Everything else looks good, just stuck at this point now Edit: do I need to approve additional tills in the Truste software? Edited July 5, 2022 by MrBrow
3s-gtech Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 That's something I haven't tried - as the tills are not 'ours' (they're managed by our LEA) but one Trust-e install is, I don't touch the tills. Would be interesting to have a working install process for them here too.
MrBrow Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 Edit: do I need to approve additional tills in the Truste software? Just making a note here in case anyone else lands on the thread and is trying this. Additional tills would need to be approved I believe within Truste | Terminal Maintenance. If they are not in there, the till wont connect. I haven't tested yet but will when I get a moment.

Sounds like they've improved this process, since the last time I added tills (which was about 3-4 years ago) meant editing both a local and server-side Access database with particular information before the till would connect.
