We are an independent School in the UK. Our MIS is SchoolBase

 

I was wondering if anyone has implemented the following safeguarding solutions and whether they have any alternative solutions/ tips.

Our trust used cpoms exclusively in 7+ schools, setup consists of an export from your mis that you email to them on a setup doc and then its out of your hands

We use cpoms. Easy setup process and staff seem to like the system.

We use CPOMS .. The Safeguarding lead often complains about the reports available. Not had any complaints from staff

does what it says on the tin to be honest, it will need a bit of constructive input from the management/safeguarding leads as to how categories and incidents are reported to get effective use from it but ive not heard a peep since the day it went in except when people need new authenticators adding.

 

it does require a 2fa usb thing or a mobile code generator to access data at the safeguarding team level but again not heard a peep since setup

We use Cura by Tasc software and its great.

We use CPOMS and our experience mirrors those above - once it's up and running it's a very hands off system from our point of view.

We and a couple of my primaries use MyConcern and there have been zero issues or complaints regarding it's use that we know of.

Does this really need yet a computer solution? Can this information not be recorded in part of schoolbase…. I can see that such a system may allow direct entry by staff...but we always do our reporting via safeguarding lead...who then puts information somewhere in schoolbase where the rest of us can't get to.

You can do it on paper if that works for your school. There is no requirement to do it electronically

we introduced cpoms in our school around a year ago and safeguarding team swear by. we also just had a safeguarding audit by the LEA and it was a huge tick for us.

All safeguarding information can be entered onto SchoolBase securely as SchoolBase do now have a "secure notes" section. However schoolbase currently does not offer the reporting features that CPOMS or myconcern offer.

CPOMs here too in both schools. We like it a lot it does have some neat features that are really nice, like the ability to record body maps and for a student's previous schools to directly transfer their entire safeguarding file from their CPOMS database to yours when the student joins you, which means you have the whole history.

 

We've not had any complaints - except that their branded 2 factor auth app seems to "forget" that it's linked quite frequently which means the user can't log in without coming to an administrator to get their 2FA setup reset. This is not a huge deal as the 2FA method is just TOTP so you can use any TOTP app like FreeOTP or Google Authenticator and they all seem to work fine. Or you can get the Yubikeys from them which work fine too.
