Looks like theme hospital 2 is coming out under a different name http://www.eurogamer.net/amp/2018-01-16-theme-hospital-spiritual-successor-two-point-hospital-announced

 

It was only a few years ago i actually completed Theme Hospital when it was free on Origin.

I'd say completely different as the credits point to different developers.

It does look heavily influenced by Theme Hospital. Even the trees and walls are 3D implementations of the old 2D sprites.

The area code is Portsmouth, not one of the dummy area codes set aside for this kind of thing.

I used to love Theme Hospital!

Nothing like an outbreak of Bloaty Head to give 12 year old me a chuckle

I hope at least one of these then is as successful as the original, and not a flop like Hospital Tycoon (which seemed to care more about relationships than actually being about a hospital). If they stick with the original Theme Hospital premise I can't see too much going wrong!

IIRC there was also 'The Squits', which you contracted by 'eating leftover pizza found under the refrigerator'. Didn't quite get that one when I was little, but I do now

Don't know why I remember that one.

 

There was also an invisibility disease(affliction?). I don't remember any of the others.

Loved theme hospital. When i got bored i would quite often hear the words. Hospital administrator is cheating i think it was.

Tried installing on win 10 as i still have the disk. would keep crashing at random points.

The PA lady is definitely one of the more memorable things about the game, I wonder if the new game will have something like it. I think it might be worse off if it didn't!

Also used to play theme park world quite alot. Populous as well. Just googled bullfrog and so many good games.

 

Have to say didnt think anyone had completed it.

I have high hopes for this given its being developed by some of the original devs, shame EA have the licence for theme hospital and this is only a spiritual successor.

Trailer & screenshots look great love the little nods to TH.

I think it was a hack rather than a patch. IIRC, prerelease versions of the game had pregnancy as an illness. I even remember seeing previews of it in PC Zone with pregnant women. I suspect that someone pointed out that showing pregnancy as a comedy illness would cause some some upset so they took the illness out of the game but left the assets in the data files.

 

Some illustrious hackers discovered the assets and released a hack to enable it. I think patched versions of the game removed it properly.

This is out now and quite frankly brilliant, it's basically get Theme Hospital up to date 20 years later! Very similar (with a few easter eggs for eagle eyed gamers!) but a joy to play as they've fixed the annoying parts from Theme Hospital!

I watched a streamer play it today, his 2 hour stream ended up about 7 hours long as he got so into it!

 

I believe there is a discount code available at the moment as well.
