ICTDirect_Dave Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 We used Bluepoint ONCE, way back in 2010 when they had a good deal on 2 for 1 keyboards. We've never used them since and we STILL to this day get 2 sales calls per week!
DJ-1701 Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 We used Bluepoint ONCE, way back in 2010 when they had a good deal on 2 for 1 keyboards. We've never used them since and we STILL to this day get 2 sales calls per week! Bluepoint contacted me after I went to IP Expo. Got a price on a server from them, but check their website. Looks well sketchy. Na, it's just that they are stuck in a 2 day temporal loop sometime in the 1990's. Hence the website and the repeat calls. 1
synaesthesia Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 Yeah, bluepoints google reviews are fairly self explanitory!
Joanne Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 Not that I can get on their website any more 1
newpersn Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 Ebuyer for bits and bobs. Seem to beat my supplier most of the time. 1
Katy Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 (edited) Oh really? I've been boycotting Softcat because their sales calls were just so pervasive. I asked them to stop calling and they won't, I'm having nothing to do with them. Quite amusing actually - I used to use SoftCat for loads of stuff but went elsewhere as I struggled to ever get replies to my requests for quotations. Seems they hassle "potential new customers" non stop, but don't want to keep existing ones! Used to use Bluepoint for things too years ago, I think our account was opened sometime in the 90s, but don't any more. Not sure why, probably a mix of better pricing and better relationship with another supplier. Edited October 20, 2017 by Katy
DGardiner Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 Same here, they have been relentlessly calling since the Summer; I lost my patience this week and politely told them get lost as they will never get my business with this sort of approach. same, cant deal with the relentless sales calls from every enquiry. theyre always over priced anyway.
speckytecky Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 (edited) Higate gets my highest recommendation if that's any help. PM me and I'll put you in touch with our Account Manager - top geezer he is at that. That said it distresses me to find that on occasions we seem to be ordering from the tax dodging mighty worldwide online supplier whose name I won't mention as no doubt they would be very litigious, now - Grr! Also, who would people recommend as their "bits and bobs" supplier now? I used to use Stuff UK, but I just find their website really clunky if I'm searching for things. This Highgate? We already use them for toner and have a good relationship, so could well do more with them in future.
speckytecky Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 Spot on Dave. This Highgate? We already use them for toner and have a good relationship, so could well do more with them in future. 1
chrisakak9 Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 (edited) Is it pure coincidence do you think that, during this conversation, I've received a cold email from a new supplier called Bluepoint? I wonder.... Yep I had that too, and wanting to add me on linkedin. web reviews are terrible for them. Edited October 20, 2017 by chrisakak9
DavR Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 Yep I had that too, and eanting to add me on linkedin. web reviews are terrible for them. Seems fair, I was unlikely to use them tbh. I don't really like picking up suppliers through cold calls, much rather prefer to get them by reputation or recommendation...
chrisakak9 Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 Have you tried CPC UK | Electronic Components | Electronic Parts ? Free delivery on orders over £5 and they will shower you with catalogues just like Misco. I guess it depends on what bits and bobs you require. again hills components are good for bits just started getting some stuff from Kiss Global too
Edu-IT Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 Already mentioned in this thread but no issues with AMC for purchases of all sizes and pretty sure some of their staff worked for Misco. Amc Computer Supplies I can only echo what others have said about Misco in terms of their pricing not being very competitive. If anything, I used to just use their website to find what product I wanted then send it off to suppliers as their website was quite good.
Iain.Faulkner Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 As said by many, I've had a lot of dealings with misco in my 14 years of working in education. Phil Endicott was a good account manager as well. Am I the only one who uses Haptic as a supplier? Good company, easy to deal with and never cold call. Just discovered CPC as well for bits and bobs and been impressed. 1
Jamman960 Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 I used Misco for everything at one point but then the account managers started changing every 6 months, each new account manager wouldn't offer the same as the previous and I had to fight with each one to get free delivery, they were fantastic for us at one point though. I moved on to Haptic(CPLTD) for most things and they've been great, always get good pricing even if I have to twist James' arm 1

Free delivery on any order and will more often than not give you their best offer first time instead of these other suppliers miraculously wiping off a few pound per unit here and there when you say they’ve been beaten! Good honest and reliable suppliers are few and far between these days. Also, anyone that feels the need to call me every other week asking me if there’s “anything coming up?” will quickly find themselves on my blacklist!
FN-GM Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 I wonder how they will be selling off the stock? Might be able to get a few bargains.
PyROm Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 Just got an automated email from misco today asking if its ok to keep sending eDeal emails.
DavR Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 I wonder how they will be selling off the stock? Might be able to get a few bargains. Probably a bit late for a closing down sale now! I'm not sure how much Misco ever kept in stock tbh, a lot of the deliveries we got from them were direct from suppliers, Misco were merely an intermediary with a nice website.
psbresner Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 Nooooo!! I always go to them for most things.
Rob_D Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 anything, I used to just use their website to find what product I wanted then send it off to suppliers as their website was quite good. I was the other way around. I could never find things on their website, so I'd end up looking it up on amazon or something and then emailing the details to my Misco account manager. Always good prices though, especially for desktops.
ColinP Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Shame never had a problem with misco, there shipping was a mess tho, order 5 things and get 5 diffrent parcels, i ordered some memorycards recently and each came seperatly.

Probably cost the company a fortune. No wonder they had financial issues.
