Popular Post Greg Posted October 2, 2017 Popular Post Posted October 2, 2017 Hi All For info from Capita forum (thanks Sally), awaiting Capita update "Just a heads up that recent Microsoft Excel Security updates seem to have broken any Excel report which creates a Pivot Table using 'old' code (prior to Excel 2010). This affects Excel 2016, probably 2013 (although I haven't tested) but not Excel 2010. After the updates, all the Capita pre-defined reports that create Pivot Tables 'on the fly' (which is all of them I think!) give an error message Method 'Create PivotTable' of Object 'PivotCache' failed. This includes all the Behaviour and Achievement reports that produce pivot tables e.g. Behaviour by Gender, Behaviour by Ethnicity etc as well as many others. I was able to resolve by uninstalling Excel security updates KB4011165 and KB4011050 (in that order) but that's not a good solution for schools. " 6
woody Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Hi Greg thanks for that. I am trying to find that thread on the capita forums but getting nowhere. Would you be able to post a link? Many thanks
Cache Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 We've had that and a case open, Capita say it's a Microsoft problem and a known issue, however it isn't listed as a known problem on any of the KB articles so we're having a rather unhelpful discussion at the moment.

alan-d Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 I removed KB4011165 and the report that highlighted the problem ran normally. I haven't come across one that KB4011150 affects yet.
LeMarchand Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 4011165 won't install from WSUS, but doesn't seem to be installed elsewhere (nor 4011150). Apparently 4011166 may also cause problems, but removing that doesn't seem to help . 1

Apparently 4011166 may also cause problems, but removing that doesn't seem to help . Yeah update KB4011165 has been expired, so that might be why. I've got 2 machines that installed it before it was expired at the Primary, one of them would have to be a machine they run reports on... and uninstalling didn't help for me though.
DJ-1701 Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 Bah... now there is another one that has the issue... not sure why.
DJ-1701 Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 It seems SCCM was pretty hot on reinstalling removed updates. Changed settings to not deply 4011165 and 4011166, ensured they where not set to deploy, rebooted the problematic machines and removed the updates again. Fingers crossed.
skell Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Any word on when Capita are actually going to fix this?
Cache Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 It's with the development team was the last update I had.
mukz Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 The development team seems to have shrunk over there or are concentrating on getting cloud stuff done instead of the current sims 7
Zoom7000 Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 I've got the same issue with 2 of my PCs, but I can't see those KBs installed in Programs and Features. I did fine 4011166, uninstalled and rebooted, but that didn't fix the issue. Not sure what else to do and it's hampering the users ability to run a vital report.

Same with me, I get this error message however I cannot find KB4011150 or KB4011165 in the installed updates, running the uninstall from command line reports they arent installed either.
Cache Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 Try KB4011220 - it supersedes the original Excel update and causes the same problem.
DJ-1701 Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 Try KB4011220 - it supersedes the original Excel update and causes the same problem. Not another one...
pooley Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 Anyone got a solution, neither updates installed, still not working.
Cache Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 The only other one in my list of superceded updates is KB4011166, but I haven't time at the moment to uninstall the other update and install that one to see if it causes the same problem.
Zoom7000 Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 I managed to resolve it at one of my sites. I had to uninstall KB4011166, close down Programs and Features, launch Programs and Features again and then uninstall KB4011165 and then close down Programs and Features, launch Programs and Features again and then uninstall KB4011050. As soon as I did this, I managed to resolve the issue. However... I tried the exact same thing at my other school with the exact same set up and after doing this, I'm now getting the following error: Error Code: 1004 AutoFilter method of Range class failed No idea what to do next or why it's happening at one school and not the other with identical setups!
deano3693 Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 Hi, Yes we've had to remove KB4011220 from machines here as it causes the same issue with Pivot tables? Anyone got any ideas when Capita are going to resolve this?
Cache Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 Last update I got was that Microsoft have recognised it's a bug and it's due to be fixed in the December updates, however is subject to change and can't be accepted as a firm plan of fixing it in that update...
User3204 Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 I have managed to sort this problem by installing a patch from Microsoft. If you go here: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/office_sustained_engineering/2017/12/05/december-2017-non-security-office-update-release/ is a list of the patches that were released this december for office I have found that the Excel 2016 one fixes it for us. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4011577/december-5-2017-update-for-excel-2016-kb4011577 We haven't rolled this out using WSUS yet, but I have installed it on the 3 machines that had the issue. 1

Greg Posted December 21, 2017 Author Posted December 21, 2017 Capita have advised that https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4011577/december-5-2017-update-for-excel-2016-kb4011577 fixes the issue
