How? Says orders have to be made from the SWGfL Portal?

Just email the order to Pheonix.

Done it for plenty of schools not with SWGfL

Really? I have asked Phoenix for a Sophos quotation, but stated they won't be cheaper than the current supplier who we procured our existing Sophos agreement with (who get ~20% discount).

If this is indeed possible, for all LEA schools (with Dfe number) then this would be great, and i'd order!

We switched to Bitdefender 2 years ago and it's been great.

Easy to use VM image for the server provided, clean informative admin panel, Anti- Ransomware module and the best in the wild detection rates year on year.

Not only SWGfL. As long as you have a dfe number anyone can get it at this price

last time i enquired about this with phoenixs i got told that "loophole" had been closed

If i may jump into this thread.

We are coming to the end of our current 3 year deal for Sophos. The price quoted to renew is £11/ per device for a further 3 years.

The alternative i have been offered is ESET for less than 1/2 the cost.

Being pretty new to this job, i am just trying to get a bit of advice which way to go.

I don't have to go with either of these if there is a better option open to us.

We are a 2 form entry primary school with 100 or so Win10 devices and also 100 or so Android learnpads.

We switched from Sophos to ESET. ESET is great.

The cost alone is pushing me towards ESET. I have read (through these forums and others) that it is a viable alternative.

We had the server capacity spare, so went down the route of setting up SCCM and using Endpoint Protection that comes with the EES licence. Saved ourselves around £1700 over the next 3 years compared to renewing our Sophos licences

Sorry this is an old post but I've been looking into this as network security is a hot topic at our school with GDPR coming in.

We currently use Endpoint with SCCM and I've never had a problem with it but the price makes me uneasy at it's so much cheaper than products like Sophos.

Any ideas why it's so much cheaper?

I think MS want you to really have a ATP subscription which is part of A5 Microsoft 365. Defender is probably the most widely used AV. But AV is not enough currently. Applocker or similar will stop some malware. Just keeping everything up to date and enabling the cloud detection in Defender will help.

I get all my tech news from the express.

AV company funded research of course.

Sounds like those companies need to source their devices from better suppliers
