About time we saw more bold and brave colours wizzing around the tracks!

 

Also - Have you heard about the reasoning behind McLaren's poor engine reliability throughout testing? They've released a statement saying the engine was vibrating it's self to death! I'm amazed they haven't found sorted this earlier! Such a shame to see McLaren at the back :(

 

I can sort of (and I mean sort of) understand why they wouldnt have known until testing. I would imagine the only testing the Honda PU has had before Spain was on a dyno, which wouldnt have the same "vibrating to death" issue as being in a chassis out on track.

 

Its still a very amateur problem and I can see Honda backing out of the sport again to save face.

Agreed, but the problem could have been caused by a change in McClarens engine mounts, it's all speculation at the moment :(

Honestly I think its impossible to tell just yet. Every single front running team was sandbagging during testing. I dont think we will see anyones true pace until Satuday.

teams - dunno - but not McLaren unless that was the best sandbagging display EVER

 

I am assuming that Red Bull will impress - but how much??

My moneys on Ferrari, as long as they can rein in Vettel. It's all great and good pushing to the last lap's worth of life on a tyre, but if it goes over and pops again then it's not doing them any flavors.

I hope it'll come down to drivers being ballsy this year. That rules out the likes of Vettel but means the likes of Ricci, Vestappen, Hamilton, Kimi and Alonso will shine. Just such a shame that the latter is in that crock of a McLaren :(

Don't rule out Vettel too soon

 

He can drive and race with the best if he needs to - not sure he can out race Hamilton or young Max but we shall see

 

Alonso - dunno - as far as Hondas go he would be better off in my Civic!

Well those times from Hamilton are looking ominous, assuming teams are running their engines at about 80-85%. If they seriously have that much of an advantage we might not even see the full potential of the Merc in qualifying.

So it's business as usual then. Best driver In the best car, by some margin, means it could be a very predictable season. I seriously hope Q3 tells a different story. :ohwell:

Free practice never takes into account all the other variables which can make a race - such as your team mate on your tail, how fast the rookies are going into a corner and so on.

 

I'm pretty sure Lance Stroll will hit an established driver at some point this weekend.
