It does however annoy me that after one small test with one particularly notorious whinger the shield was written off. Doesn't anyone else get a look in? That and I'd imagine that just bolting a temporary device on top of a chassis is very different to having something built in.

After enough time it will become a part of the car a lot more, just as wings, overhead airboxes and side-head protection have gone from ungainly things stuck onto the previous generation of design to integral parts of the shape of a car.

Sorry, what I meant by that is that putting something on a current car isn't necessarily representative of what it would actually be like as part of a car designed with it in mind. There was some suggestion that Vettel's blurriness with the shield was down to vibrations, which may be less of an issue if the screen is built into the chassis.

I really love the Ch4 coverage of F1 but find it even more annoying when the BBC news page carries the result as a main headline way before the Ch4 highlights are run - Grr! Ch4 add insult to injury by running their adverts during this one whereas the usual spot on coverage has been ad free for the actual races. Then F1 wonders why their screen viewing fanbase slides! I came across this piece about Lewis Hamilton deciding to become a vegan. One of his motivations for doing so is the environmental cost of rearing meat. I've heard that [for normal people at least] eating less meat is one of the most effective ways to take a chunk out of your carbon footprint. I'd be interested to see what Lewis Hamilton's carbon footprint is like, given the nature of his work. It's presumably pretty monstrous, but might encouraging thousands of others to reduce their own meat intake make him carbon neutral?

A fabulously well-informed performance by Lee and an awesome run through of a great career by Nigel - why on earth wasn't he awarded a Knighthood. In my humble opinion, many athletes have been for less bang for bucks.

They sound like footballers, getting precious and crying wolf at the stewards whenever they are 'fouled'. I'm sure, for instance, that if Vettel could dive, he would.
