Yes ... for times when Hobnobs just aren't enough :)

I worry I might be beyond that - EduCrack.

But no, m.u.s.t ... b.e ... p.o.s.i.t.i.v.e .... "At least they asked AND before the exam too!"

There seems to be some competition going on here. I thought a days notice for an exam was a bit short but we have a new record holder :

"Support for your exam at, did you say 3pm? Err, 3pm today? That's ... in 7 minutes? No, of course, we will be delighted - you know we have just been sitting around waiting, wondering what we can be getting on with. Thank you so much for saving us from what would otherwise have been another tedious, empty hour."

I must now enter the confirmation ID in the boxes on screen, starting with Block A... When I have finished, I must press the hash key.

(Cashless Catering till that's gotta be 10 years old, XP Embedded, just decided it wasn't activated - we're changing suppliers at half term so I reckon it's got wind of this on the grapevine!)

Ironically, I've had to use this for Server 2012 R2 activation recently when the online version wouldn't work. Still the same lady from XP days!

at least it can now text you the activation code so you dont have to listen to robot voice for what seems like forever

Remember when Vista was first out, with its new online activation, problem was, if you didn't get it in time, you couldn't get in to put the laptop online to activate it.

I was at a school and had a pile of Acer machines we had to line up and keep calling in to MS to activate them one by one!

The first time I found the Windows 98 disk defragment tool. And being mesmerised. I had plans that night but I ended up just sitting there watching it and listening to my disk grunt in a satisfying way.

I wonder what it would look like working at modern SSD speeds!

Defragging an SSD is a kinda a bad idea. But it would probably be near instantaneous, since there's no (perceivable) delay on read/write to different parts on the disk

I once had a windows 98 file copy estimation go so high it went negative

I knew a guy who thought it would be funny to try and get millions of failed IE downloads that showed -1KB filesize so he could avoid having to buy a new hard disk.

I didn't get the reference but it reminded me of Maggie Smith in Sister Act, which has also been a while.

I had an awful week and by Friday I felt like crying all day. I got home and had a large rum and went to bed curled up in a ball and my head was swimming with stress and imagined threats.

But then for some reason I remembered that scene from Star Trek: First Contact where Worf is trying to convince Captain Pickard to evacuate and self destruct the Enterprise because it is overrun with Borg. Pickard calls Worf a coward and he growls back "If you were any other man I would kill you where you stand!". And my face just crumpled and I was all like "Oh god they love each other SO MUCH!!" and started weeping.

Sorry if that got a bit weird but yes I hadn't thought about that for a while.
