Oaktech Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Is it time to think about a repeat? But where? @AJWhite1970 @elsiegee40 @BKGarry @LeMarchand @Dan_ATR @Oaktech @Adams_dad @DalekSec @DJ-1701 @newpersn @The_Oracle @Tammie @GrumbleDook @ [MENTION=46468]ICTLady @sarahstacey @Andrew_C @CrazyK1tten and anyone else who lives somewhere in the South Central area I'm in... Half term? Monday Wednesday or Thursday is good for me.
AJWhite1970 Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 I can host again unless one of the coast huggers wants to host in Bournemouth/Poole? The only thing I can't do if I host is any time over half term as the car park is being completely resurfaced and access will be a nightmare.... SW Trains are running their spring ticket promotion until the 13th July if that helps get the Kent contingent over? https://www.southwesttrains.co.uk/offers--days-out/offers/promotion/
newpersn Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 I'm in... Half term? Monday Wednesday or Thursday is good for me. Some of us are working during half term.... 1
Oaktech Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Some of us are working during half term.... Speak to @GrumbleDook, he can give you some manglement speak to make it sound like a knees up at the pub is actually a CPD event...
dry Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 I'm up for it! I can do Monday, Thursday or Friday in half term (or a weekend). Will know early next week if I'm free on Tuesday and Wednesday.
witch Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 @elsiegee40 Do you want to do a new poll as to where? I can't seem to edit or remove the original one
DalekSec Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Im up for it, i have half term off. One problem i have is my car is going in for it's MOT on the tuesday and doubt it will pass on the first day!
witch Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Thursday of half term? But not at Andrew's in Salisbury. Where else would be good?
DalekSec Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Might be worth clarifying if half term is the same for everyone (should be but just wanna make sure we are on the same page!) , so we talking Thursday 1st June?
elsiegee40 Posted May 17, 2017 Author Posted May 17, 2017 Thursday June 1st is the Edugeek conference. I am not available on that day or on the Wednesday or Friday (travelling to/from)
LeMarchand Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 I'm in with the same caveats as last time, but can't do non-holidays. 1/2 term quite full, though.
witch Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 So maybe we should be planning ahead for after the end of term in July? Give us more time to sort it out?
BKGarry Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 End of July sounds good :-) A little bit of traveling on the train never hurt anyone
AJWhite1970 Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 End of July would suit me better as well, hopefully back up to two working eyes again by then as well
GrumbleDook Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Speak to @GrumbleDook, he can give you some manglement speak to make it sound like a knees up at the pub is actually a CPD event... Something like this? ------- Hi [Headtecher's/Line Manager's name] I've been selected to attend a free, peer-led CPD event in [location], on [date]. The agenda looks pretty packed but some of the areas of expertise that I'll be able to tap into are quite pertinent to some of our plans over the next [3 months / 6 months / 12 months / 3 years] and will help to ensure we keep a focus on the benefits tech can bring to education, whilst also keeping a track on risks. We may even have the opportunity to chat with NHS staff who had to deal with the recent ransomeware issue. So far, there are delegates with expertise in [get a rough idea of the skills of those going but make it relevant to your school's needs]. The event itself is free [so we only need to cover travel to / and I will cover the travel costs to] [location]. ------- How does that sound? 2
GrumbleDook Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 I'm busy all week with installations and training in North Yorks (Tue/Wed), EDIT (Thu) and then travelling home via a few schools / partners.
DJ-1701 Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 July sounds like it would be long enough for me to get authorisation for the day off.
Boredguy Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 July sounds like it would be long enough for me to get authorisation for the day off. Denied I want that month off 2
CrazyK1tten Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 I left education last month! Whereabouts would it be held and would I still be allowed to attend, if I could?
DJ-1701 Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 I left education last month! Whereabouts would it be held and would I still be allowed to attend, if I could? Sorry, we will be checking credentials at the door... Well... you're still a Geek... and you worked in Education... so I would have thought that would count. Anyway, EduGeek is more of a community is it not?
elsiegee40 Posted May 17, 2017 Author Posted May 17, 2017 I left education last month! Whereabouts would it be held and would I still be allowed to attend, if I could? Who said you had to be in schools for Edubytes? Being an Edugeek is sufficient Anyway I am not in paid employment at a school either 1
witch Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Right - so we will start looking at that first week of holidays - 24-27 July I have no idea how to do a poll for this....halp? Do I need to start a new thread @elsiegee40 ?
BKGarry Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 This is sounding pretty cool already. Do we get to see the new Cafe tho 1
witch Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 (edited) Now there's an idea.. @AJWhite1970 Edited May 17, 2017 by elsiegee40 1
