Who else has never changed their home PC case?

I've just realised I've had the same PC case since 2008. Been through 4 distinct iterations: 1) Core2Due, 2) Core2Quad, 3) i5 and 4) i7. That's almost a decade. Now I don't think I could ever part with her....

When we sacked off their AT format 486 in about 1998 they've had my old Fujitsu Technicl. That started as a p2 with about 256mb ram and a 10gb HDD and is now a core i5 with 8gb ram and a 480GB SSD

Ive still got my computer in an Antec 900 case.

 

My 12 year old HDD is still going strong although its just used for files now.

I've still got my nice beige case from 2001, with it's third set of works. I updated it last year, including a new DVD writer. Sadly I couldn't get a beige one and the bezel from the old one wouldn't fit, so it's got this horrid black rectangle on the front. I've still got the original keyboard too - it's made by Tsunami, whoever they are/were.

I only recently bought a new one as the ventilation in my old one was causing my 970 to thermal throttle, I now have a rather snazzy Thermaltake Core V21

Still using a nice aluminium Lian Li case from 1999 - its had 3 iterations - still a lovely case to work on

nope or id be running in a beige at box (i actually have a homebuilt pc but cant remember the last time i turned it on for anything other than duplicating hdds as the mb has a shed load of sata ports i think its still runing vista it was the cheapest 4mb cache core 2 duo when i built it lol)

Just realised the other day I've had my Antec 900 for 8 years now. Original build was a Core2Duo then upgraded to Core i5 2500k about 5 years ago. Still runs the games I want to play at decent quality so haven't felt the need to upgrade it again yet. It's had a few SSDs added over time but otherwise just keeps rolling on.

 

Hardest thing last time round was finding an air CPU cooler that fitted depth-wise, Xigmatek Aegir was the one I went for in the end and very happy with it

I've tended to swap cases each time, have got a few in the attic still that are empty shells now but the Cooler master 330 as above I have got a Core 2 Duo in that at the moment that has just come back from my Dad's and I have ordered a few of them as they were good cases.

My case originally had a PII233, I bought it from CCL in, I guess, 1998. I've only just stopped using the cherry PS/2 keyboard I bought at the same time, and only because my server upgrade means USB keyboard needed :-(

 

The beige case has a black 3.5" front USB port, which looks a bit odd, but sod it.

When I built my first PC - I purchased a generic battleship grey case.

 

I'm proud (sad?) to say that my home PC still operates in that case, numerous components have changed in it over the years, but the outside remains the same.

I do love the look of most Thermaltake cases.

 

If I didn't go down the watercooling route, I'd have built my machine into a Thermaltake Armor A30, but since I did go watercooling, I'm using an NZXT Phantom 530. I reckon I'll still buy the Armor A30 if I ever decide to build a 'proper' media centre, though.

 

As for replacing my case, usually I buy a new case every 1-2 builds. I still have my old Aerocool Strike-X from my first attempt at a custom watercooling loop.

 

Edit: What I really want, though, is the ASUS ROG TYTAN, but they don't sell just the case

I tend to go through a new case every two-three years.

Mostly because I half like change and setting myself new challenges and partly because I'm always expanding my rig and putting in new watercooling kit.

 

I might change again soon, given I fancy giving copper hardline a go and would want something suitably steampunk to go with it.

I've been using the antec 900 since about 07. In the process of changing it for a corsair d750, I got fed up with how much of a faff the fan-filters are to get to in the antec (and the mildly ridiculous amount of molex power connectors you need for all the fans.) I hope the corsair will last me just as long.

Lucky you! I didn't have a home PC until 2002; I never needed one as I used the boxes at work. I noticed last night my case still has an "Intel Inside Pentium 4" and a "Creative EAX" sticker, even though it's a core i5 and Realtek sound. Maybe I'll stick the appropriate stickers on as well.
