It was nice to see an actual fight for the win this week, but was a shame that both the Mercs crashed out (Certainly just a racing incident as LH could have taken his foot off the gas when the door started to close, but once on the grass he was a passenger into RH's car)

It was nice that Red Bull got a win this season, so at least there is hope for more race challenges going forward for the rest of the year if Merc slip up.

I don't believe NR did anything maliciously. He was just doing too much, trying to correct his engine setting, not really paying attention to the road; he did a bit of a Maldonado, if you remember when he forgot to watch the road when fiddling with his knobs! Lewis easily had the move done, he was by far the quickest car and the gap was there.

He was heading for turn 4, a right hander, on the right hand side of the track, totally off line, and ran him off. He knew what he was doing. He's done it before.

Vettel did that to a few drivers too when he was in the RB.

I'd have got out and thumped him.

Did anyone get a penalty ??

Posted
Erm no. He's only finished 2 i think. I know its all penalties. Either love him or mildly dislike him. You might love him, I dislike him :)

I can't stand Mercedes being allowed to be so in front of the others. It makes it ssooooo boring.

MotoGP is rocking me lately. Its proper racing :)

My comment above was tongue in cheek btw :o

The second you said Moto GP, Your comment made sense - I always hear when people are Nascar fans or Moto GP tend to say "That's real racing". Also "He's Rubbish" then with the "I don't like him".

And yes, it was very tongue in cheek - what's a definition of a troll? ;)

As for the Topic, Lewis has had two accidents (not his fault and not including Nico crash) and 2 major reliability issues hindering his performances this year. We saw this two seasons ago where Lewis had all the bad luck and Nico had none. Still managed to fight back and win the title though. If Nico has two DNFs or loses major points and Lewis wins them, that puts everything more on Par.

Also great job for Max, kept Ric very honest at the start, kept a Ferrari behind him and either way - race win for the 18 Year old.

I agree with the stewards--racing incident. Did Rosberg close it down aggressively? Yes, in the same way Hamilton has so many times. Hamilton was technically alongside him, but at those speeds and in those fractions of a second, no-one could react correctly in the moment. I don't think either of them appreciated just how quickly Hamilton was closing.

Certainly not the level of malicious intent that there was in Spa '14.

ETA: @mikkydoos--no penalty from stewards, doesn't sound like anything from the team either.

Guess you have been watching the races then or at least following what has happened so far this season.:rolleyes2:

Spanish Grand Prix 15 May 2016. Now that was a F1 race well worth watching; what a great change from the same old same old of recent races.

I agree 100%, really good to race and much as i dodn;t liek to see the Mercedes go out, it did make for an exciting race as a result. Young Verstappen did a fantastic job and even Jenson got some points. Happy days :D

Great race, good to see a proper battle for all three podium spots, not just third because first and second reserved for Mercedes.

The only bad thing about the race - the TV pundits will now go on and on and on about the "battle" between Hamilton and Rosberg, just like they did last year - the amount of airtime the BBC filled with it was boring.

And they'll also tout Verstappen as "the next big thing" when it was more down to luck and positivity of his promotion.

The did the same with Vettel when he won in the Toro Rosso... and the thing is, they were right.

Wow, that was a race and a half. lots of action, i thought it was going to be a boring race but how wrong was i. Only in Monaco can you go from smiling on Saturday to chewing a wasp on sunday. If it wasnt for the long pit stop, Ricciardo would have won the race. Edited by timbo343

Great race :). Felt for Ricciardo but glad for a bit of rain, made it one of the best ones this season. Jenson even managed some points ;)

I know but if it wasnt for button none if the others would have switched to inters. I did think hamilton was going to run the wets down to slick. After seeing Ricciardo, on the podium and after the race, red bull let him down again. Rosberg didnt help either, yes he had brake problems but if that was the case, he should've moved over before he got to 13s behind ricciardo.

Im sure the white lines round Monaco get slippier and slippier each year.

Im looking forward to the Canadian GP. One of the best races on the calendar an if it rains like it did a few years ago, it will really shake things up.

Bit of rain to spice it up, if there is one thing you can usually count on is that rain can make an exciting race from the usual "unable to overtake" one - Monaco.

Felt very gutted for Ric, he really did deserve it but Lewis did a great job keeping him behind while also keeping his car on the track.

Bottas looks to be flying around Baku at the moment. That long straight is good for the Williams...

Gets real tight at places, this track. Turns 8-11 past the castle are sloooow.

Looks Like Baka could be a interesting race. I can see a crash happening around the castle.

Looks terrifyingly tight from onboard, doesn't it?

Force India are looking good as well, while Ferrari and RBR are well down. Too early to be representative though, I suppose, still too unfamiliar.

Find it funny that the first car to crash out in FP1 was Riccardo who did the Codemasters F1 2016 test around the track earlier in the week and said he didn't want to crash... so just goes to show that playing games/simulators doesn't help the drivers much :D

Thanks for the video link share. Looks like a good circuit, something a bit different. Some really tight corners which will be touch and go if the rain comes down. Buildings either side will prevent it drying out too quickly.

Haven't spotted many obvious overtaking places though...hope its not going to be too tough.

Apparently the main straight is so ludicrously long that, with slipstreaming, we might see double overtakes--which, of course, is the same as no overtake at all.

Looks pretty dusty on the track, and apparently windy, so could see some slipping and sliding even without rain.

DRS / Super long straights.

Surely not? As they won't both get DRS when they go past the activation zone? And if they do then it will cancel out?

Well it was nice to watch the GP2 session get red flagged while we were out having lunch.

Looks like issues with some of the curbs or maybe drains as workers were using welders on some of them.... could be interesting for quali tomorrow...
