I went to silverstone one year to watch motogp and see a mate race in supermoto, i thonk this was 2011 or 12. Ive never been so wet in all my life. 2 days we were there, saturday was nice and sunny but sunday, that was a different kettle of fish. And then silverstone security decided to move the car to tge otherside of the course as we had left it in what we were told an ok location.

Other half was going to get me tickets for the weekend, I screamed a Prequel Vader moment - NOOOOOOOOOOOO.

 

Mainly because we are saving up for the holiday this year. Maybe next year Silverstone for the weekend, maybe food included etc.

Still as for Nico/Lewis, no shocker some can't accept what's fact. Both drivers at times can't accept responsibility - I guess it's all ego. Overtakes like that happen a lot where you are essentially putting faith in the other driver to take the corner correctly. As for the boo's I hate them, they really don't have a place in this sport especially when it should be aimed at the driver causing the accident and still didn't let him back on the track. Don't have sympathy for Nico, he knows this could be his biggest chance yet to a title and if he doesn't win it.. you have to think it wont ever happen.

 

Good luck to Merc on that one though! I love seeing team bosses angry beyond belief.

If the rumors are true in regards to Raikonnen's ultimatum at Ferrari, there could well be a position opening up there for Rosberg, but it's going to be a step backwards in terms of career progression.

 

I think next weekend is going to be very interesting in terms of the behaviour of the two Mercedes drivers, I can't wait, going to be down at trackside on the saturday and sunday, any other geeks in attendance?

 

I will be attending sunny Spa again this year. Never been to the British one, mainly due to the excessive price of tickets compared to elsewhere! Belgian GP tickets were almost £70 cheaper for general admission.

Ferrari keep Kimi Raikkonen for 2017 | F1 News

 

Gotta be honest, kinda surprised. He's been steady this season, but I was expecting them to go for Sainz or Perez as a more exciting prospect.

 

What moves are likely now, then? Ferrari were the key again. I expect Massa to retire, Button to move, Vandoorne to get called up, and maybe Ocon to replace Palmer at Renault, but there's not going to be much movement now, really.

Palmer is a question mark at Renault, but that has been an open secret all season so far.

Considering how Button behaved when he last signed to Williams, I'm amazed that Williams would even think about signing him again.

Button was a very different person when he was last at Williams. Since then, he's been a world champion, matured a lot and one of the most respected people on the grid.

Actually he went from Williams (2000) to Benetton (2001) which became Renault (2002), and then BAR (2003) which became Honda then Brawn.

Also Montoya was announced by Williams mid season so they decided not to keep Button but loan him out for 2 years... it was that part of the contract that he terminated when he decided to join BAR (which is the year Williams had the option to recall him for their team) but over time his rifts has been mended with the Williams Team as lots of other drivers have fallen out with the bosses and then returned a few years later (Alonso for a recent example!)

 

However the next couple of months will be interesting for the F1 Driver Silly Season

Hopefully the FIA will now define more precisely what the rules mean in this area. We all know F1 terms will bend the rules to breaking points and the definition of imminent can be bent quite a lot - "well we knew something was wrong with the gearbox - and if it broke it would be critical - and we knew mode x would be OK - so....." etc etc

It was the bit after that they investigated, when Rosberg asked if it meant he had to shift through 7th gear, and they said yes, not the chassis default bit.

This rule is completely unenforceable and should either be changed or scrapped entirely. Now Mercedes know that they can keep breaking this rule as long as they have at least a 10 second gap to cancel out the penalty. Should have been disqualification if you ask me.

Red Bull also have said that they will review their race situation to see if they could overcome a time penalty if it advantages their drivers in the race, so I have a feeling that Charlie's "Technical Directive" which is not actually a regulation in itself, will be getting adjusted for 2017

I'm just annoyed that, ultimately, it's costing us the fans a chance to see good racing.

There's a lot of information a driver can't possibly know without having the numbers and stats in front of them... how do you expect a driver to know what's going to happen to a gear if the team doesn't tell him or if an engine mode is causing a lack of power ect...

Finally the FIA have come to their senses and allowing unrestricted team radio after the formation lap as of this race in Germany!

 

Maybe we will get better radio messages than just Seb swearing all the time

It's been the lovely rule since last year that each part of the power unit carry's it's own grid reduction. Still a long way from the number of penalties ALO had back in Spa
