I can't do it without their Crapple ID and password. Tried a restore with Itunes - Nope Apple configurator - Nope. Anyone got a workaround or hack to get these thing reset. They are MDM managed with Meraki but reset won't work from there. Cheers in advance 1
DalekSec Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 In my experience you can't you need to get them to unlock it, they can do it remotely via their apple id so don't have to do it in person

truebluesteve Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 I'm afraid you are stuffed without their usernames and passwords. We've had a number of ours with the same issues over the last year or 2 and we've had to contact the member of staff to get their details. Its a real pain!

howartp Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 You can contact Apple who will send you a form. You have to provide serial no's and your proof of purchase, then they will set their system to not require lock next time it is wiped. 2

You can reset the iPad to default settings but as soon as you sign into a wifi network, you're prompted with the activation lock screen. You can do it by going to icloud.com and signing into the icloud account there which is listed on this page.

We use Casper/Jamf but I don't think this is avaiable on our MDM. Do you know what it means by the System Manager Network? Saves a lot of hassle later down the line anyway The only reason we use it is for the backup feature in-case a student breaks their device they can then restore onto a new iPad.

Then again if the iPads are Supervised they can have activation lock turned off....

We use file explorer to save anything and the iPads don't leave site, nor or they assigned to any individuals so there's nothing to be lost really apart from some apps And for the teacher iPads they're completely unrestricted apart from iCloud being turned off, but they're able again to use file explorer, One Drive or dropbox.
