mrbios Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Can anyone recommend any cabling companies that do a particularly good job? We've used 3 in the past and i could easily complain about all 3. Looking specifically for recommendations from people in and around my area, swindon, bristol, gloucestershire, worcestershire area. Thanks
NB9457 Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Not enough time to do it yourself? As sad as it sounds, cabling is actually a fun job and the savings are huge, plus it's quite easy as long as mean networking. 1
mrbios Posted June 16, 2015 Author Posted June 16, 2015 We often do jobs ourselves, but trust me one of the jobs we've got you would not want to take on, i guarantee you.
peterp Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Home Great bunch of guys. Really friendly, we've used them for years. Excellent costs. Never had a complaint about their work. Incredibly professional, skilled, can't rate them highly enough.
RobD Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 We use Officeworx in Cheltenham and have always been really happy with their work.
pickman Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 I Use lynx Data Cabling | Network Cabling | Milton Keynes Very professional and can tackle the trickiest of jobs
Oaktech Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 I use Deemrose: Data Cabling Installation in Hampshire and Dorset, UK for bigger jobs or one of their former employees JP for smaller ones. I can PM you JP's number if you like. JP is based in Salisbury but is happy to travel.
snagrat Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 TME (http://www.tme.co.uk) are good. Only use the best stuff so don't expect them to be as cheap as those who just use cheap cable
snagrat Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Interested in who you have used before though so I don't have to come across them
speckytecky Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 I can highly recommend David Blackman of Pumpkin Telecom - based in Frome. If you can't find him on the internet please PM me for contact details. We had an archaic have system in my school, bits bolted on here there and everywhere. David streamlined us from our FTTC point to the server room with fibre and ironed out several potential loop backs that had been created over the years as well. Top man. Excellent value for money and basically a diamond geezer. He is also a telecoms expert. Can anyone recommend any cabling companies that do a particularly good job? We've used 3 in the past and i could easily complain about all 3. Looking specifically for recommendations from people in and around my area, swindon, bristol, gloucestershire, worcestershire area. Thanks
psydii Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 I've used these guys in the past. PCI Comms The team keep getting bought and sold by which ever subsidiary within the DataTec group needs to claim that they have their own cabling devision this week (Datatec corporate website » Group strategy), but the guys there are solid and reliable. We used to use them when they were a subsidiary of Logicalis, but as Logicalis grew our relationship moved to be with direct with the cabling team (we couldn't afford the every increasing Logicalis premium).
Jamoire Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 We use CIS, used to be part of Worcestershire County Council but got spun off a couple of years ago so are independant now. We've used them for years and have never had any complaints.
TomHD Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Just to pipe in on costs, recently my school spent £200 on a telephone cable (cat3) being run from one office to another. The day before I ran 2 cat5e to and from the same offices for the cost of my 3 hours! Had the school mentioned the telephone cable I could have run that too!
hailstorm Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 We use Advanced Network Always very reasonable on cost and very tidy looking results.
FragglePete Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 I use Protel for data cabling these days. Based in Bristol and very reasonable. Pete
Kingstech Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 We do all of our cable installs our self unless it's part of a building project, if it is the building contractor will sub it out. I've got lots of little projects to do over the summer.
Jamman960 Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Can't recommend TJames enough, had them install our ruckus gear last week on behalf of Haptic, I've never been impressed by any of our previous contractors but these guys did a very neat job.
Roberto Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 We use Lanode - have done so for years and we're very happy with them. First class network wiring and active kit work.
