[1703, cu] Windows 10 Creators Update (v1703) now available to download
hailstorm replied to Arthur's topic in Windows 10
I've come across a couple of problems with this new version so far. I get a "Something went wrong. You can try again, or skip this for now." during the OOBE stage. I've created a new answer file with a new catalog file but still no luck. Setup seems to complete ok. Looking at the log files it seems to be this showing the problem: 2017-04-07 16:59:34, Info [CloudExperienceHostBroker.exe] Failed to load oobe.xml file at C:\Windows\system32\oobe\info\oobe.xml with hr=0x80070003 2017-04-07 16:59:34, Info [CloudExperienceHostBroker.exe] Failed to load oobe.xml file at C:\Windows\system32\oobe\info\default\oobe.xml with hr=0x80070003 2017-04-07 16:59:34, Info [CloudExperienceHostBroker.exe] Failed to load oobe.xml file at C:\Windows\system32\oobe\info\242\oobe.xml with hr=0x80070003 2017-04-07 16:59:34, Info [CloudExperienceHostBroker.exe] Failed to load oobe.xml file at C:\Windows\system32\oobe\info\default\2057\oobe.xml with hr=0x80070003 2017-04-07 16:59:34, Info [CloudExperienceHostBroker.exe] Failed to load oobe.xml file at C:\Windows\system32\oobe\info\242\2057\oobe.xml with hr=0x80070003 Start menu will revert back to default layout instead of the customised one created in audit mode. This worked fine in the previous build. -
Me too. I'm in the same situation.

We've had cryptolocker sneak by Sophos in about 3 of the schools we look after. It's far from perfect.

Setting up Ubiquiti Unifi Wifi with Radius
hailstorm replied to beancole's topic in Wireless Networks
iPads work fine with Radius. I've done UniFi + Radius before and had no problems. -
Just spotted this on Ubiquiti's website. A complete new range of wireless APs: https://www.ubnt.com/unifi/unifi-ac/ UniFi AP AC Lite (Passive PoE) - https://www.ubnt.com/unifi/unifi-ap-ac-lite/ UniFi AP AC LR (Passive PoE) - https://www.ubnt.com/unifi/unifi-ap-ac-lr/ UniFi AP AC Pro (PoE 802.11af) - https://www.ubnt.com/unifi/unifi-ap-ac-pro/ UniFi AP AC Lite (PoE 802.11at) - https://www.ubnt.com/unifi/unifi-ap-ac-edu/ New features: Spectral Analysis Band Steering Airtime Fairness The Edu version includes a speaker so you can setup a PA system. It's unclear if the spectral analysis feature now means channels and power are now automatically managed.

[windows mobile based] Best Windows Phone Out
hailstorm replied to newpersn's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
I've got the 640 as a backup/work phone. It's a great phone for the money, about £100 to buy on payg. Good way of testing out Windows Phone. -
Not tried your suggested command yet but my problem was that it wasn't generating any backup file at all.

Hi all Would anyone be able to advise how to backup the Solus 3 database? Backups work using the Dbattach GUI but fail when trying to run via a batch file. The same command works fine for backing up SIMS. DBATTACH.EXE /SERVER="ADMIN-SERVER\SIMS2012" /DATABASE="solus3_deployment_server" /USER="SA" /PASSWORD="SchoolPassword" /BACKUP /AUTO Thanks!

Can't see any MAK key for Win 10 Pro. Does this mean you cannot buy it under the select volume licence agreement?

[wds] Very odd - UEFI clients not naming/joining domain - older clients fine
hailstorm replied to pow's topic in O/S Deployment
I realise this is an old thread but it was top of the google search results when I was looking for a fix. It is a bug in WDS. When you approve a UEFI device it gives the wrong permissions. If you look under the security permissions on the computer object you will see it has set deny for Domain Admins against the 'Change password' and 'Reset password'. Remove the deny for both of these and you are good to go. You will need to do this for each UEFI computer you approve through WDS but it is better than nothing. -
We use Advanced Network Always very reasonable on cost and very tidy looking results.

Just got passed on the latest version of the SIMS support roadmap. It is indeed Spring 2016 that they will be supporting Windows 10.
-
Capita don't support it yet. Simple really. I expect it works fine but if you need to file a support ticket then Capita could just fob you off saying its not supported.
-
Well yes true. We only have a handful of schools that have gone the Software Assurance route. Most buy a perpetual licence per PC under the county Select Plus agreement we have.

From everything I have read on the Microsoft forums: Schools can upgrade to Windows 10 for free but only from Retail/OEM licences. Volume licences of any type are not entitled. To get the free upgrade you must go through the Windows Update upgrade method. Once completed you can then do a clean install or reimage and activation should complete automatically. Will update if I find any more details.
