Arthur Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 I guess the Government has little worries of Wi-Fi causing health issues too... Free wi-fi to be provided in all NHS buildings That's good news! With free Wi-Fi there also won't be any need to pay the exorbitant prices hospitals charge to watch TV. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2110905/Hospital-patients-paying-10-day-watch-TV-prisoners-pay-just-1.html

Garacesh Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 (edited) I agree. Always hardwire where possible. Jitter is one hell of an annoyance Not seen one of them here. My guess is it'll be aimed at primary schools more than secondary schools anyway. Seems more of a "Please, won't somebody think of the children?!" thing. I'm guessing that their children aren't allowed to own mobile phones, use television remotes or play with radio-controlled toy cars, either, hm? Edited August 1, 2016 by Garacesh

The best about it was that we are a secondary school with 50+ WiFi aps
DJ-1701 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Don't forget those 'wirelss baby monitors', professional type up there. If there was a legitimate concern I would very much hope the WHO and most Governments would have something to say after all this time. 1

Remember to disable the built-in Wi-Fi on your computer once you have an Ethernet connection. - Turn off your router: If you keep your Wi-Fi router – turn it off at night and when you are not using it. - Keep your distance: Keep away from your computer when downloading large amounts of data on Wi-Fi. - Cell phone Wi-Fi: Activate the Wi-Fi on your cell phone only when accessing WiFi. Otherwise, turn it off. - Watch out for Wi-Fi: Limit, as much as possible, the time you spend in places with Wi-Fi such as, coffee shops and other public places. Edited August 1, 2016 by elsiegee40

Clearly a bastion of critical thinking, scientific rigour and completely unlikely to be people with tinfoil wallpaper*. *yes, this is a thing. We've had some......interesting parents over the years.
sted Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Limit, as much as possible, the time you spend in places with Wi-Fi such as, coffee shops and other public places so basically everywhere there are people just open up the wifi settings (or wifi analyser) on your phone and see how far you have to go to get no signals i pick up about 8 at home there is probably less wifi signals in the school im in than my house. Unless you actually want to live off grid in alaska youre going to be interacting with wifi pretty much 24/7
3s-gtech Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I really want to ban that website here, but that's kind of what they want. It's very frustrating how people can fling around pseudo-scientific phrases, clumping them into ill-conceived fluff with the overall goal of selling something (they're always selling something).
mavhc Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Totally not trolling them on facebook I warned them about CMBR, it's everywhere! 3
6Foot2 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 ...I warned them about CMBR, it's everywhere! This is one occasion where you could have used 'literally' and it would apply correctly: ...I warned them about CMBR, it's literally everywhere!

DJ-1701 Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 In the UK, I don't understand using the alternative petition websites other than the official parliament one to try to implement or change laws or procedures.

pcstru Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 let's hope this guy isn't on here... Why? Surely this is exactly the place to come to get quality information on the subject; assuming they can get past the derision. I have some sympathy for these people. The 'jokes' here revolve around the fact that EMR is a wide spectrum, much of which is encountered normally in every day life. So we jest "oh well, better keep out of the sun then - har har har" - well, yes, there is a definite link between exposure to sunlight and melanoma, so sunlight is not 'safe'. The jokes then also confuse hard radiation from Gamma and Beta decays with EMR and while background radiation is encountered every day, there are still strong correlations between elevated radiation levels and elevated rates of cancer which strongly suggest that the there is some causal link between even background radiation and incidences of cancer. Even when we are talking about proper EMR, it is not simply the case that EMR is safe. You would not want to be a target for a modern steerable naval radar and you are probably generally grateful that the last microwave you used had shielding to keep the radiation on the inside. None of which is to say 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz signals as used in WiFi will cause harm to someone's health, but just that the situation is actually quite complex [*1]. Couple that with a nocebo effect, which will be a very real experience for people even if it appears objectively to be entirely unrelated (causally) to the presence of WiFi etc; well, for most people personal experience is the most powerful evidence there is and couple that with the truism that the easiest person for anyone to fool is themselves, it is entirely understandable that people will form a very strong belief that WiFi is harmful. Trolling and deriding them simply pushes them further into their belief. [*1] So to try and illustrate that, we have a 5Ghz transmitter situated 1 meter from your head and we will vary the output power starting from 0.001W to 1,000,000W (9 orders of magnitude). At what point would you start to feel uncomfortable with this arrangement and why?

Mistert89 Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 My late mother was concerned about the "mains power" issues which were commonly reported many years ago. There were statistical reports of an increased incidence of cancer through a town in the path of overhead power lines (statistics from a family GP practice with records over years). So when she was looking at a house that had one of those small transformers at the end of the garden, she had it checked out. The field strength (micro teslars) registered within 6 feet was zero, but in the house, the field from the digital clock (the red display mains type) was significant..... And that's a couple of feet away from your head! Yet people 'fear' the overhead pylons more..... And, yes, we give our kids mobile phones to hold by their brains, with wireless enabled, yet join the emotion with wifi in schools.
