Novalee Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Rich neighbours' fury as £15million Kensington home is painted in red and white 'beach hut' stripes during planning row - Mirror Online I quite like it...it looks fun!
FN-GM Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Its actually quite a neat job. Credit to the painters.
Sagima Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Looks quite nice - they could finish off the stripe by the lamppost though
unixman_again Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 I saw this in the Metro and I liked it too.
Domo Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 if they're that mad they can always swap me houses! no stripey painting around here, and i wouldn't mind that sitting across the street if my house was worth 15 mmillion quid...
sonofsanta Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Good Lord, these people are a world apart aren't they? Zipporah Lisle-Mainwaring. I know you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, but crikey, a name like that tells you everything about the area, doesn't it?
LeMarchand Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Zipporah Lisle-Mainwaring. I know you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, but crikey, a name like that tells you everything about the area, doesn't it? You are Katie Hopkins and I claim my £5.
localzuk Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 The thing that alarms me more is that somehow that house is worth £15m. We really have a property shortage in this country don't we! 1
elsiegee40 Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 You are Katie Hopkins and I claim my £5. Makes me think of this: Katie Hopkins' Ed Miliband Tweet Just Made A Solid Case To Vote Labour | Huffington Post
sonofsanta Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 You are Katie Hopkins and I claim my £5. I think you'll find I'm an inverse Katie Hopkins, judging the toffs from my gutter down here
CHR1S Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 (edited) 15m for that house is just bonkers - I couldn't even find a house for sale in the north for even close to £15m (it was a quick google) Savills | Howsham, York, North Yorkshire, YO60 7PH | Property for sale There is a HUGE north/south divide... I say N/S but its London/Everywhere else divide. Edit - how about a 36 bedroom castle in Piza for Euro 13m? http://www.prestigeproperty.co.uk/property/152532/Castle-Pisa-Italy/ Hell for £11m you can buy a Caribbean island!! http://www.privateislandsonline.com/islands/walkers-cay Edited April 15, 2015 by CHR1S
davyboi Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 (edited) There is a HUGE north/south divide... I say N/S but its London/Everywhere else divide. Walker's Cay - Bahamas, Caribbean - Private Islands for Sale There is a TV program being advertised (I think Channel 4) showing the difference between £1 million properties in the UK. It shows a small mansion with 30 odd windows several chimneys loads of land, then a pokey little flat in a grotty looking tower block in London. Prices down there are crazy! No matter how rich I was I don't think I could bring myself to pay £15 Million for what is essentially a Mid-Terrace without even proper parking! Edited April 15, 2015 by davyboi
CHR1S Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 @davyboi I see us plebs are on the same page, they must live on another planet.
rich_tech Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 I read that article and it made me laugh in fairness and a little glad I don't live in that area judging by the plans and the people, I don't get the whole "Must build a 20 room cavern beneath my house" movement, regarding the colour though, my mum and dad did a similar thing years ago in our old terraced house, on a street where everyone was dark grey/brown/red colours, my parents masonary painted the door and window frames an ultra bright yellow which stood out tremendously.
SovietRussia Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Glad I saw this - was a question in a pub quiz last night, which I got right of course! 1

VeryPC_Colin_M Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Be dead easy to give directions to anyone visiting though; "yeah go down Kensington avenue, stop outside the house that looks like it's lost Wally".
pooley Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 I love the fact they had it painted at night, imagine waking up to that lol

I'm surprised that since the neighbourhood are now all totally against the colour scheme (no planning permission required), that they don't just pepper it with a white paintball session… at night as well [emoji48] Edited April 20, 2015 by Oddbod
Garacesh Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 That infuriates me. Not because it's stripey, but because as others have mentioned, they missed a bit xD
sonofsanta Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Kensington woman told to remove house stripes painted in protest - BBC News
Miscbrah Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 (edited) This is a depth of jimmie-rustling and entitlement spat handbaggery that we regular folks cannot possibly fathom. http://www.newsfiber.com/thumb/20150414-DBDC16BAAEF011B9-0-0-C276BD19-E945B06FAB0CDC1D.jpeg http://new2.fjcdn.com/thumbnails/comments/Is+going+towhat+is+going+to+what+_ff574ff408d6fe8bcf82371aca8c9870.gif Edited April 29, 2015 by Miscbrah 2

pooley Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 If that was me i'd now paint it luminous orange or something. Let the neighbors complain - they have the money to paint it a ridiculous colour every week.
