Hello All,

Now Easter is just around the corner (next week for me), does anyone have any big project planned so far?

For me it's just cleaning the server room and sorting out some patching so far for the first week and then in the second attending a meeting at the HP facility in Bracknell

So a bit busy.

Hi, All.

I'll be rebuilding our VM-Hosts, may upgrade them to server 2012 R2, I'm still looking into the pros and cons. Going to clean the server room, maybe clean a few patch cabs and label some of the ports ready for the network infrastructure upgrade in the summer and maybe do a few bits and bobs in between. Looks like it will be a busy week.

Installing 4 Digital Signage screens and an Xibo server in the second week, plus associated electrics. One of them is an external high-brightness screen and is literally costing 10x as much as another one of the same size that is going to be ceiling mounted indoors!

Going to devote a lot of my time next week to installing and configuring Xibo on the server and clients. Wish me luck! *gulp*

Replace 150 network cables to tidy up a cabinet properly

Install (physically, we dont have the licenses to add them to the system yet) 10 access points and run cables to their locations

Build 35 PCs and replace an IT suite with them

Move our 6th form projector and screen to a better location in the 6th form common room

Go around all the projectors in the school and make a note of all the bulb times so we know what's going to need replacing in the next 12 months.

Pretty straight forward, got the first half of next week off though, not in till wednesday :)

We're building a new stage in the corner of our main hall. This will be constructed of portable staging sections with a scaffolding framework around the sides to hold lighting and curtains and a back-projected screen as the rear of the stage. The interesting part is going to be getting 6-metre long scaffold poles delivered and into our hall...

I'm on a 3-day Server 2012 Administration course with NEOS in Worcester during the second week. I'm actually really looking forward to it, even though it's supposed to be a school holiday. I'll also be catching up on school website updates.

We don't have much planned, some general maintenance on servers (updates since last holidays etc) and clean out the last few staff PCs that I didn't get last time plus the IT rooms we can't get into during term time. We bought an electric air pump thing, we knew we had a lot of PCs to get dust out of and canned air was going to be expensive so went with this. It cleans machines very quickly and leaves a nice cloud of dust in the room when your finished.

Which one did you buy, where did you buy it from and how much was it? I'm thinking of getting one for our school.

Odds and sods, general classroom stuff I've been meaning to get around to but not had time etc. Also have the first of my Comptia A+ exams, kinda bricking it even after cramming the last few weeks/reminding myself about stuff I'm just never going to come across in the field ever.

The Ginger Pig, if I recall. The free lunch provided at The Pheasant when I was down there in January for a W8 course was good though, although I might try the Pig if I fancy a change sometime. I've still got a week of AD/GP training to do at some point.

I've also booked an extra night at the B&B so I don't have to take my dog to the training centre on the last day. (I can't believe I was so stupid last time!)

Got 60+ New computers to install so 3 images required and then asset tag and deploy out to wherever they are going

SSD's into the older computers and create a new image for them which is bare bones and has nothing apart from office and internet browsing

Setup OP smartdesk for all the maintenance departments

Move computers into different offices

Not be told about people moving offices to find there is no network point so a cable will have to be run.

Also personally running the Brighton Marathon is 15 days! :)
