simpsonj Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Any necessary logins (Email admin, web filter, Wireless management, SECURUS, school website, Inventory/Helpdesk) if they're not tied to their new user accounts in some way. Licencing information - Microsoft, Adobe, Apple Any codes for any padlocks (we've got a few that were my old ICT-Coordinators old flat no. Can remember that part, just nor the number itself!) A rough network guide would be handy, but not essential. A packet of Hobnobs... 1

Sagima Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 A copy of the DR plan - or at least the place it is filed away? Current projects and how far along you are with them and the agreed plan/timescales for finishing them? 1
ConnorByrne Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I had too *sigh* Same here I had to figure it all out myself when I started! [emoji17]

hardtailstar Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 Information on backups - when they are done - What gets done - If they need to take off site Any useful notes from last meeting maybe... they are done by an external company but I will still mention it.
Grey-gear Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 A list of useful websites that have helped you whilst you worked in the school in question. Location of a good cob shop\chip shop\nearest place that sells fast food... List of staff that's good to get to know... 1
Norphy Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 List of staff that's good to get to know... Equally, a list of staff who are awkward buggers who must be avoided at all costs is useful as well 3
Duranis Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Wish the person that I took over from was as thoughtful as you, came in to zero documentation/information and it seriously made the first few months a nightmare while I tried to figure everything out. If you don't already have an internal KB they could access then I would include a list of common/ongoing issues and fixes/work done so far. Also if you did any regular work that they might not expect then a heads up could be handy (when I started nobody told me it was my responsibility to update all the login details for all the pupils on all the websites they use, it wasn't until a teacher asked me when they where going to be ready because they where waiting for them that I even knew anything about them).

That's what I had, so want to at least do a bit for the new person.
soapyfish Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I knocked up a small wiki that had all the key information. I also copied all the relevant files such a license paper work and passwords contact details etc to the new staff's user area after I created it. 1
featured_spectre Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Just activate Program Sisko 197 and be done with it. 1
elsiegee40 Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 When I last had a handover, the list included: Non, user specific logins to various things Network information - including any foibles of particular hardware (e.g. ICT-09 will only ever communicate with WSUS once a day... ignores detectnow; LIBRARY-01 occasionally no video output - fixed by reboot) Where to find things - both on the network and in real life Software in use Fonts Notes about ICT Suite image A list of outstanding jobs 1
Davit2005 Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 (edited) Servers and their roles Re-Imaging Wired/Wireless network details and layouts Sorry if repeated something anyone else has said. Edited March 24, 2015 by Davit2005 1
hardtailstar Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 Thanks all, Listed down the suggestions, now to create it all!
Bompalompalomp Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 A few I made handover documents for that I haven't seen mentioned if it's still of use for you: School website information - login, contacts for the host, ideal management, information that needs updating and an outstanding issue with it and information on resolving it Smoothwall specifics, logon, and details of things that might look odd being in the block or allow lists. Staff requirements (e.g. "Office staff member X is still in process of using mail merge after being briefly trained on it, you may get a lot of calls about it") VLE/Common web resources issues Macbook/iPad specific issues and a basic runthrough of apple configurator because in the brief meeting I had with them he had never heard of it. 1
eyetea Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Existing licensing agreements and when they end - had a few surprises here! 1
mattianuk Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Budget stuff, ie recurring software costs etc are useful. We now have a handover document, as we support 5 sites and anyone could end up there, created over Xmas when someone left. Used everyday now by new techies.
