Seriously noisy in operation due to loads of 120mm fans on full bore, but only had one disk failure in seven years use (consumer HDDs). 1

Brilliant, mine looked exactly the same - wish I still had it as I need a case I can bung loadsa disks in!
sonofsanta Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Been having this argument with my favourite Head of Faculty again this morning, trying to explain to her precisely why we didn't want her old SCART leads or VHS tapes that she was clearing out of her cupboard. "But they're still in their original packaging!" And they're still bloody useless to me and anyone else under the sun. Honestly, she handed me a tripod handle with a screw thread on the end - just the handle, useless without anything to screw it into, just a lump of plastic with some foam around it - and the look of horror on her face when I threw it straight in the bin was comical. We had one of those Sony Mavica cameras lying around not so long ago. Favourite old thing in my office though: Who's playing with your database?Huh? Huh? Do they have a calculator watch? And a Ghostbusters badge? And a half-eaten classic Mars bar? And an unusual need to declare their exact age to everyone via a not-suspicious-at-all pin badge? I think they might! 1

Chris_ Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Yup, one is RM branded here (it would have been one of the old CC2 servers here, moons back), the other I picked up from a member on here. It would win Robot Wars. I can sit on it and roll down the corridor. Glad to see it was of some use! Oldest thing we've got lurking around would probably be a random ZX81, or a couple of old RM 380Z machines. Last time I check eBay one had sold for over £600, not working!!

When I looked there were the usual VHS tapes, floppy disks and a dozen abacuses ! Wooden framed things with multicoloured sliding beads! I can understand the floppy disks (all with pirated software), the VHS tapes can sort of understand, but the rest was really grasping at straws. Computers are just adding machines and abacuses (abacuii? abacus? no idea what the plural is) are also for adding, therefore abacuses are computers.

Must have cost £££££'s when new. I found a similar thing many years back, still boxed and afaik was never used once.
