You forget, Capita uses Microsoft technology. Including Microsoft Time and everybody knows the Whirly-Bar-Of-Doom (WBOD) (TM pending) has a different time schema to that the rest of the world uses and the only way to convert between the two is using a customized delorean. Edited by matt40k

Thought I'd try the solus 3.8 update - now that wasn't such a good idea ;/

Has anyone tried the sims side yet - I was planning to do after school on monday?

I seem to recall posting around summer that I thought releases had got better over the years. Summer was only 2 releases, although I'm waiting to see if the reporting functionality that broke in the first release (which support said was going to be fixed in 2nd), and apparently has now been fixed in autumn is actually fixed in the autumn release.

In any case, logged a support case for the failed solus upgrade earlier today - depending on whether or not solus agent whines at staff aka shows a "cant connect to deployment service" dialog (I think it might) , or sits quietly in the background, i'll be ringing helpdesk when they open monday :)

If silent error in background = minor fault, if tells all staff deployment service is not running = critical issue affecting all users.

The only thing I can't decide is - where we've invested a fair chunk of time making sure solus works - now solus adds "let end users unzip packages to do their own thing" is whether to look to moving away from solus to app-v.

This was fixed as a patch after Summer 2 came out; however I didn't get round to installing it. Went to do it this weekend when I saw Autumn pending.

I've raised a call asking if I should put it on first or just do Autumn - will report back.

If you're no more than 3 releases behind, you can just go for the latest one. Assuming you need it, or are willing to risk whatever bugs are in it.

It's the Workstation patch I'm asking about, not Summer 2 itself.

Need to know if the patch is rolled into Autumn or not.

**Waits for the inevitable "Exams Organiser has broken" posts**

Used to dread getting SIMS updates as it meant a trawl round various members of staff to reinstall SIMS on their PCs..

This? :

ReportingFixes

This release includes fixes in the following areas:

 An error is no longer reported when producing an application record-based report

that includes the National Curriculum Year as a report field (via Reports | Run

Report).

 Duplicate staff contracts are no longer displayed on the Contract Analysis report

(via Reports | Personnel | Contract Analysis).

 Duplicate pay scale awards are no longer displayed when running staff contract

reports (via Reports | Run Report).

 When incorporating sub-report filters into user defined report definitions, the

associated data is now displayed correctly (via Reports | Design Reports)

 An error no longer occurs when bulk exporting reports (via Reports | Export).

In terms of why solus didn't update for us: seems we hadn't set local system as SQL sysadmin permissions - don't recall seeing that in any of the solus guidance I've read ;/

The biggest change in this version has to be Sims Service Manager...which will start the bringing together of shared Sims components. InTouch is really affected by this first, but it will integrate other areas soon too. Ive been trying to dig out the info I had for this, as it makes pretty interesting reading what is happening...

Resource 23306 on SupportNet for those interested.

Also i strongly urge anyone comtemplating this release to read the known issues documentation : resource 23414 (i won't put the doc here as no doubt it will be updated over time)

The SIMS Service Manager is a significant change but there isn't an immediate need to implement it. InTouch will continue to run using a VPN & IIS but it is now possible to avoid these techniques and as a result InTouch will perform faster. Should your VPN go down we would guide you to using SSM.

All services will be migrated to the SSM in the future.

Sounds a lot like groupcall exporter.
