Hi guys,

would like to know which is the best software to purchase for mirroring the ipads to the class whiteboard?

We are trialing Reflector, but wanted to see if there's any others that are any better or cheaper?

For a total of 10 classrooms?

Thanks guys

+1 for AirServer here too.

It works pretty well - it does occasionally crash, but for the most part, it's solid enough.

We tried an Apple TV but had issues with it - plus - they are somewhat more expensive than an AirServer licence!

I've been looking at a piece an app called "reflector" - Reflector Airplay Receiver - Mirror an iPhone or iPad to a Mac, PC or Android

It essentially makes a Windows PC, Apple or Android device an airplay receiver - This means you can airplay/screen mirror to a PC connected to a projector, IWB, IFP display . It seems like a cheaper alternative to Apple TV or less technical setup than an air-server.

Anyone else used/ using reflector?

We've installed apple tvs, air server and reflector in numerous schools and currently reflector comes out top. It works on XP if you're still using it, doesn't require a bunch of pre-requisites like air server does and doesn't cost much. It also seems more reliable for mirroring video and generally more stable than air server, which is a bit hit and miss at times.

We are looking at this at the moment at my school. I have trialled reflector, air server and Apple TV. Apple TV seems the best but air server works well but make sure if you are mirroring that the devices are on the same vlan as the devices won't be able to see each other.

Another vote for AirServer we have had it in now for about two years and haven't really had much bother with it.

Had an issue with it last year because we implemented VLANs on the network but that was quickly sorted.

A really good feature of AirServer is the ability to mirror multiple iPads to the same display.

How do people find AirServer scales?

I'm looking at possibly having it in around 70 classrooms.

Unless you VLAN it down in to smaller chunks, teachers will have to find their whiteboard among a list of 70! A good sensible teacher pc naming strategy might be required. Also, make sure students don't have any access to any apple device or software on the same network. We had some instances when we first installed AirServer were random music would start playing out of teachers computers. Turns out pupils in music were connecting up through iTunes. I think you can password it down but that then becomes something else for teachers to moans about.

Hi,

I am trying to set up AirServer at our school. iPad and PC is on the same wifi and the iPad can see the PC. However, when it attempts to connect, it drops after about 10 seconds. Any ideas?
