It's good, but it's a PITA now they've gone the Docker route.

I understand, it's the same concern I have. For example, it makes us having a Guest and BYOD Wifi network pointless to an extent, as most people struggle with adding the certificate in.

I'm guessing this is an HTTPS interception certificate? We have a similar issue with the one our Smoothwall uses. It's a real pain with non-domain joined devices and any unmanaged iPads / mobile devices that come in.

We've got some Smartboards and the speakers are not good. You'll realistically need a soundbar or some kind of speaker system.

Hardware failure? I was under the impression it was hosted on AWS!

We've got these ones, they have metal arms and the little pockets to hold the charger. I've never noticed ventilation slits but I'll have a look for them. The tablet ones are slightly different, that may need a bit more thought about where they could be tied to.

This is exactly why we are trying to address it - it seems to happen in both primary and secondary for us. They are the first to moan though when they get a device out of the trolley and it's not charged up!

I'd considered this but it does involve making a hole somewhere in the holder trays to tie wrap them to. It's a shame we have to go to such lengths, why can't they just leave them in place?

Those are the ones, yes. Would you drill through the lever, or just put a screw somewhere around the lever to stop it moving? That's an interesting idea, however.

Hi All If you have any Lap/tabcabby trolleys in your school, have you ever tried to lock the side access doors where the power cables go in to? If so how? I'm absolutely fed up of having to chase missing power supplies for laptops and tablets that staff remove and never put back. I've always been surprised that they don't come with a locking mechanism for the side doors, as I can't imagine many places want staff or students interfering with the power cables and chargers.

Thanks all for your input. I had briefly considering using Carbon Copy Cloner to take a backup of a setup Mac and try restoring it to the other units. A lot of the software we have may not be easy to deploy and configure via MDM, in particular I am thinking of Sibelius which is about 30GB! Has anyone used Jamf's Mac tools? We currently use Meraki for iPads and Mac monitoring, and are considering changing that to Jamf.

Hi All How do you go about imaging any Macs you have? I have read lots about NetInstall/Restore, but that's very old now and doesn't seem to work. I have heard of Deploy Studio but last time I tried to use that it just wouldn't work, though I think that may be worth another go. I'm curious as to what you use, and any recommended reading you may know of, as imaging Macs seems to be poorly documented online, and anything there is, seems to be aimed at the home user. Thanks

I like Xibo, the UI isn't the best but I wouldn't say it's complicated to do anything. I also find reasonably reliable. My only gripe is it's a shame they've pushed it down the Docker route with the new version. It's a bit of a faff to set up without using Docker (and even with using Docker it seems a faff especially as they don't seem to like running on VMs for obvious reasons without some trickery).

We use SwipedOn | Visitor Registration, Made Beautiful on mounted iPads with Wireless label printers for visitor badges over three sites. It also does our staff register. Largely it works OK.

I had a play with this morning - if you save the below as a whatever.mobileconfig file and upload it to Meraki as an Apple Configurator profile it will hide apps. You will need to replace some of the text in the settings. The last bunch of settings also sets a message on the lock screen - you can probably omit that part of the config file if you like. A Meraki sales rep swore blind to me that this is already available in their MDM product! I sure can't find it, I believe he must be mistaken. You should be able to block apps by creating a restriction profile in AC2 and then uploading that restriction's profile to Meraki and deploy it that way. It's something I keep meaning to do, as I have to block the Cock/Calendar as it's driving me insane. I think the config files might require a bit of editing manually first though before uploading to Meraki.
