I enjoyed this film. Detachment (2011) - IMDb Locke (currently on Netflix) - Tom Hardy is the only actor appearing on screen in this film, and the entire story takes place inside a car. The first time for ages that I've been one of the youngest people in the cinema! Knights of Badassdom After one of their number unleashes a demon, a group of LARPers must find a way to defeat it. A bit of a throwback to those movies you used to find buried in the video store (yes, I'm that old). OK for a post-pub laugh I guess.

Watched this last night and it was very enjoyable. A good action film but also funny in that Norwegian kind of way. Highly recommend.
L3OUGH Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Went to watch 'Focus' last night, Will Smith and Morgot Robbie's new one... Hadn't heard the best of things about it but the trailer looked good and at £3.40 a ticket at the cinema I go to, why not! FYI - I did really enjoy it.
mrbios Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 (edited) I've just watched the last hobbit film....I'm now sad that the world of middle earth has finished its story I want more. I get properly sad after something like that, because i get so into it that it's a really depressing thought to think that there's no more to it. (Even though the CGI let it down at times) Next time i have a week off I'm going to pick one day to kick the missus and my son out and just binge from hobbit to lotr in order. It's nothing original or even vaguely intellectually stimulating, but it is a lot of fun. Mme LeMarchand was a bit worried that she was the only female in the cinema, though.

I think I may have enjoyed it more than her. Although based on a true story, in real life both parties were (and AFAIK still are) happily married when they made the deal.

unixman_again Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 I treated myself to a Fritz Lang fest over the weekend, watching Metropolis (the 2010 restoration), M, Frau im Mond and Clash by Night. "Woman in the Moon", gets so much right, such as multi-stage rocket, assembling the rocket in a VAB, and rolling it out for lauch, lying down for liftoff, weightlessness, and having weighted shoes on the moon so you don't float away. It also get's it way wrong, which an atmosphere on the moon's far side and water too. When the Nazis began working on the V2, they decided the movie's rockets were too close to the truth, so to preserve secrecy, they had the models destroyed and the film withdrawn from release. Peter Lorre is brilliant in "M" and with Marilyn Monroe and Barbara Stanwyck in "Clash by Night" (two of my favourite actresses), I really was in heaven.

Reminded me of Inglorious Bastards, didn't really take it seriously. Was worth the watch but it was a bit far fetched at times.

Brian Cranston's character would have been a far more interesting protagonist had he survived more that 5 mins. Last night I watched Limitless. Nice idea and was quite entertaining and I didn't find Bradley Cooper intensely annoying for a change. Ability to overlook plot holes is a must.

The original Godzilla is from 1954, by the great Toho Film Studio. The 1998 film is known amongst we Gojira devotes as GINO (Godzilla In Name Only). Godzilla '85 isn't bad, if you want an update from the original. IMO the best update is "Destroy All Monsters", if only because everyone is in it. Godzilla, King Ghidora, Mothra, Rodan, Kumonga, and many others. 1

Sad to say, the bits that made me laugh as a nine year old still made me laugh as an almost thirty five year old. (Your mama was a snowblower!) It surprised me that there was so much swearing in the film! I don't thing that it'd pass as a PG these days, it'd probably get a twelve rating 1

Blended Maybe I have low-brow tastes, but I really enjoyed this (and so did the rest of the family, including the one who wasn't keen on an Adam Sandler film). The trailer is a fairly accurate indicator of whether you'll like the film or not.
