Keep meaning to watch this, but Mme LeMarchand suffers from extreme Carrey-phobia and have never found the time when she's away.

Anyway, my new housemates have pretty much got a film on most of the time, which is quite nice on a lazy Saturday. This weekend we watched Moon (Moon (2009) - IMDb). Saw it years ago but had forgotten what a great film it is.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy (watched on flight back from US on an awful screen but still enjoyed it)

 

I really enjoyed The Last Gladiator, but man it was depressing seeing Nilan fall down the way he did. If you want a similar film it's worth checking out the Broad Street Bullies documentary HBO did, Liev Schreiber's narration is excellent to boot.

I get annoyed when directors and reviewers come up with stuff like that. Most of us would jump at the chance of seeing films in IMAX; unfortunately not all of us live near major cities or can afford justify the increased time/financial cost of travelling to one.

Plus some of us wear spectacles and being forced to wear an extra clunky pair of glasses is just uncomfortable!

Interstellar: Yes I would. If Mr Nolan wants to send his chauffeur around to ferry me to/from a suitable theatre I'd be happy to oblige. Like I said, we don't all live within easy reach of IMAX screens.

 

Gravity: I saw it in 2D. I don't "see" 3D. I suspect it's because my brain is so highly evolved than it isn't fooled by the illusion . I also think that it's an excuse to shove a few more quid on the price of a ticket. Judging by the rapidly decreasing incidence of 3D showings in our local cinema, I'm gathering that I'm not alone in my area in my dislike of the format.

In contrast, my vision is pretty much perfect (My optician said so!) and I still hate watching 3D movies. They give me eyestrain and a thumping headache by the end of the film. The last film I saw in 3D was Days of Future Past and I regretted it. Liked the film, hated the headache.
