gshaw Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 While many people have been waiting for a tablet like the Surface 3 from Microsoft, I'm not so sure one would have been a good idea back in early 2013 when the original Surface Pro was released. The performance of Intel's Clover Trail Atom's were quite poor. I might be wrong, but I don't think anyone would want a tablet where the CPU usage is a constant ~40% with just Word open. Clover Trail wasn' t great but Bay Trail Atoms have been fine - still better late than never

themightymrp Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Interesting - Mystery patch KB 3035583 for Windows 7 and 8 revealed | InfoWorld Interesting..... I'm going to just double check that it's blocked on my WSUS server I think. Don't want no accidental half upgrades happening come launch time
MartinT Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Agreed, that's a good move although it may have already got through. I'll check too.
themightymrp Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Its not showing up in my WSUS at all? Not sure if that's right or not. Might have to just watch this space. I'm wondering if it won't get released via WSUS at all seeing as it's aimed at network environments and they don't want to mess up their corporate customers
caffrey Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 It's not here either, neither can I find it in the Microsoft update catalogue - one to keep an eye open for though.
JRowley Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I can't see them pushing it through WSUS, it's aimed at the consumer market not corporate.
caffrey Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 They pushed the Browser Choice thingy through WSUS but iirc that was a EU requirement
psydii Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I saw it pop up in WSUS. Remember being slightly bothered by the terse and non-helpful description. Then pushed it out anyway, and put a note in the calendar to check up on it in a couple of months in case we need to pull it.
Gatt Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Speaking of WSUS.. Just found these lurking in SCCM's SUP config.. Nothing yet when you search though...
Gatt Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Doubt you'll see any updates until the next Patch Tuesday Fortunately thats only next week..

Tesla Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Just installed win 10...get this error on windows update page 0x80072EFD Can connect to t'internet, have tried the microsoft fixits, and disabled firewall. Still no dice.
jonnykewell1 Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 TESLA is your network showing as connected ok in the notification bar?
LosOjos Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 I ended up ditching it on my laptop and returning to 8.1. I know it's still in beta, but it felt a lot less stable than either 7 or 8 did this late in to development to me*; each update seemed to decrease stability too! Doing a fresh install would improve stability until the next round of updates. It's a shame because as an OS I think it's great, they've hit just the right balance between "traditional" Windows and "modern" Windows, although I still feel Start Menu is a bit clunky; there's minimalist design then almost total lack of visual hints; the latter makes for an unpleasant UI experience. I hope the instability is just down to the pace at which they're pushing in new features and improvements and that the dust will settle in time for general release, but based on my experiences with the OS so far, I'll be giving it a good couple of months after general release before I upgrade again. * I'm afraid I have no hard figures to refer to here, only personal impression as a user of all the OSs during their beta stages
Tesla Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Managed to fix my previous issue, wasnt picking up the proxy settings, now getting a different error though. 0x80240438 ....
LeMarchand Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Managed to fix my previous issue, wasnt picking up the proxy settings, now getting a different error though. 0x80240438 .... Not being able to get updates doesn't seem to be an uncommon problem. Some sources suggest that it won't work through a proxy (though plenty of folk here seem OK). I manually downloaded as much as possible, but can't upgrade from 9226 ENTx64. It's annoying because it "sees" which downloads are needed, just won't download them. I've also seen suggestions that it doesn't play well with old GPUs (which is what I have).
Tesla Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Yeah, stuck on 9926...Might try on my PC at home in the near future, seems very stupid, but $beta.
LosOjos Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 @Tesla @LeMarchand - just out of curiosity, did you both install the GB or the US version? Updates were one of the few things I didn't have many problems with using the US version (I've had more issues using GB versions of previous betas so stick to US versions now)
Tesla Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Using the GB version...will give us version a try... Ta.
LeMarchand Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 @Tesla @LeMarchand - just out of curiosity, did you both install the GB or the US version? Too long ago to remember! Is there a UK version of the ENT download? I'm just going to wait for the next ISO and clean install. I do agree that the W7 & W8 betas didn't have as many problems, and that earlier versions of W10 seemed more stable on my hardware. 9226 doesn't seem to like using a PAC file whilst earlier builds were fine, for instance.
Garacesh Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 The first version of W10 was incredibly stable when I tried it, and practically all of our programs worked. I've tried multiple times to update to the latest build and every time it just mucks up for me.
LeMarchand Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Loose lips slip when Windows 10 ships: 'End of July' says AMD CEO • The Register If "the end of July" is true my experiences with the Beta would make it the first time that I'd be unhappy throwing the release version on any equipment that I use.
Tesla Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Nope, stil the exact same issue with the US version too.
